What is the age of maturity?

Forget the question of how young is to young by WiZd0m. What I want to know is what is the true age of maturity.
My last girlfriend had just turned 19 when I got with her, 14 years younger then myself. I have to admit that at first I was flattered that a girl so young would be with me. But later, I began to hate it.
I don't know if it was the age difference or what, but the way she thought was so much different then the way I thought. What is up with this younger generation? I really do not think they actually know what love is. And that it goes further then the bedroom and everything in everyday life being peachy cream. And that when you get bored with the person you're with, it does not mean you just move on. Well, it might to the new generation.
So, what age do you think a person is when they are at a true mature age? And don't give me that "Age is not the issue" crap. I have yet to find a person under the age of about 26 that even acts to my satisfation of maturity.
Anything before that age seems to think that lust and love are the same. And that love itself is something to take lightly.
Well....Let me hear your thoughts.

Let me guess,
She was incredible in bed, and now she left you.

By the way, age is not the issue...

No, actually she was a lame fuck.. it was her personality I loved. See, that is what I mean, the first thing people want to talk about is how someone is in bed.

for women: the age of maturity is 30.

for men: well, i would guess their maturity is reached at the exact moment their dick withers up and falls off.

j/k really. i swear. i love men. they lift heavy things. they can fix cars. they can wage war. i love men. i really, really, really, really, really, really, really do!

Isn't it obvious from this board that some people never grow up? By contrast, I've met teens that were wise beyond their years. In short, there is no way to answer this question except the way the law does: arbitrarily.

I definitly agree with unseenworld on that one. There is no number, which, once someone has passed they stop being an inane bag of protien with the depth of a sprite, to a person in their own rights, with a distince personality and spine all to themselves.
(this coming from the guy who entered the thread to agree with someone)

But if it was a thread about what trait does maturity make, I would say self confidence. Actually knowing just what you are.
anyway, I'll stop rambling now....

I don't believe that maturity is the issue. I think it's just a matter of people finding some things in common with each other.

Humm, some of you make a few good points there. However, maybe I just did not state the question in the right terms.
Maybe it is not a maturity issue as much as it is an age difference issue.
Could it be that the generation gap in 14 years was to much? The moral issues and beliefs were so different?
I think Dank might have hit the nail on the head with the statement "I think it's just a matter of people finding some things in common with each other."
The larger the age gap, it seems there is less and less there is in common.
What is really screwy is that my dad who is 20 years older then myself is married to a woman that is about 8 years younger then myself. They have a lot of problems and differances. I seem to get along with her better then my dad. Is it because we're closer in age and have more in common? The hell if I know.

And WiZd0m - there is nothing wrong with your question.

I guess I would have to disagree with just about everyone

It has very little to do with age, it's the individual and how they grew up. I basically raised myself. I was always told from age 7 up that I was more mature/respsonsible than most of the adults around me. But, then again with my parents back then, that wasn't saying much lol. I was also the oldest child and basically raised my sis and cousins from age 9 on. I had to be mature for my age.

And as far as the generation gap between couples, it's still an individual thing. My fiance is 20 years older than me and we have a great deal in common. Age has never been an issue. He's one of the best friends I've ever had. We think very similar, have great conversation, have the same idea of how to have fun and relax, same sense of humor, etc.

As far as generalities...if I had to guess I would say for women 25, men 35. Sorry guys, no insult intended. Just been my experience.

People often think age = maturity, just like education = intelligence. One doesn't prove the other, sometimes they coincide, sometimes they don't.

Warphead - yes, you have a valid point about sometimes they coincide, sometimes they don't. But if you were to state the averages of how often they do and how often they do not, it might show that the majority of the age=maturity would be true. I do not mean as in asking others what they believe. But what the facts would show.
If you were to ask everyone as I am doing, what they thought. They probably would say the same thing, that age does not equal maturity.

What attracts two people frequently has to do with their differences as much as their commonalities. Women are attracted to power, and this power can be intellectual or even comical in nature.

I remember one of those afternoon women's shows, like Oprah or Jessie. The topic was "Ordinary guys with knockout girls." They had 3 or 4 couples on and the prevailing question was to the gals: "You're so beautiful, you could have just about any guy you wanted. Why did you marry him?"

The answer was almost universal: "Because no one can make me laugh like him." The power to make a girl laugh is very powerful. Use it wisely.

Is it necessary in 13 years from now to consider myself mature? I hate this title, I'll never grow up. This doesnt have to do always with responsibility, but with a more general "lifestyle" :-)
