Sasha flew from England because he's friends with the owner of that club and heard we were doing a Players Ball porn party, so he asked me in advance that afternoon if he could spin. FOR FREE!

I asked him if he was any good. haha

So they both DJ''d later that night until like 6:00 am and had a blast. Even Sasha danced during Acosta's set, which if a DJ gets on the floor and dances, that max respect to the DJ spinning.

No one even really knew Sasha was spinning, so it wasn't really appreciated until years later when Sasha become more commercial.

Fun time.

nice! Sasha gets well into the 5 figures now for a 4-hour Saturday nite DJ set in a big city like LA.....he's one of my favorite DJs but even i'd say his style isn't the best for a party like the Player's Ball...

yeah, he is almost $25,000 now isn't he? amazing...I WANNA BE AT THAT PRICE...haha...and he gets so fucked up when he spins, he is so much fun

his style is more for the dark room, lots of lights and lots of drugs

cool1g 08-17-2004 08:41 PM

i heard he got $35K over the July 4th weekend here in LA to spin at Avalon...and yes he parties HARD!

but what's cool is he was invited by Danny Howells to come over to Ivar on that Sunday nite and they ended up doing a tag-team set for a couple of hours which he did for free. :thumbsup

RhiannonBray 08-17-2004 08:43 PM

I cant wait till the next players ball, let me know if you need a cute brunette for anything =) I wish I could sponsor, I have a total blast at the players ball every year. My site has only been up a week so its not in my budget yet, but soon!!! Soon RhiannonBray.com is gonna sponsor......muah ha ha!

D-Money 08-17-2004 09:19 PM

Sasha was partying hard that night.

We went out the night after to another club and raged.

He said anytime, he'd come back. I'm sure if he knew it was my party, he'd do it for the least amount he'd possibly go down to.

But, is it the right fit?

In Miami, he didn't spin until after Digital Underground and the Hip Hop DJ, and Ice-T did their thing.

So it was like a 3:00 AM Sasha and Acosta DJ thing. Perfect for that hour. The place was high energy the rest of the night.

You can sponsor it with your presence on stage if you'd like.

Always love the hotties on stage dancing.

We'll give you a link for that, at least.

Bump for D$ - not like he needs it!

Last years event was awesome. For the first party we ever sponsored, everything went fairly smoothly.

Some things to keep in mind if you decide to sponsor, just seeing some of the posts about the mess eroticafest was.

#1. Be prepared to make sure all your VIP's get taken care of by your own staff member(s). Shit happens at clubs. Give out someones cell # to all VIP's in case they have trouble at the door, getting up to VIP areas, etc. Make sure they are 21+ and bring ID. Also be prepared to fight battles w/ local security and know who to talk to do get shit straight if problems come up. D$ is great here, if something comes up he'll come lay the law down and it will get fixed - unlike other unamed folks here he makes himself readily available to sponsors and actually *works* the event. :)

#2. Also be prepared to spend some cash on alchohol/etc. This should also be obvious, but for some reason isn't to some people. If you are going the private table route, I would also suggest you fly someone in locally a few months before the show and check out the venue, so you can pick the place where you and your guests would have the most fun. Some like it quieter and further away, some like good view and noisy, etc. Make sure shit fits for your style. Don't simply go and expect to "be entertained" - sponsoring is also taking on the role of entertainer for your private crew until the main acts start. Have a bunch of people you get along with, and you will have a blast here.

Otherwise, quite honestly D$ takes care of the rest. He's the only guy I'd EVER trust in this business to run a party w/ our name attached. He took care of us proper last year, we were total newbs at the game, and most of us are geeks that sit at home all day. :)

I vote for snoop, and of course some spinning by the adult DJ legend YTcracker baby! Not sure if we'll be sponsoring this year, but this would be the only event we'd even consider. So for you smaller folks like us, sit up and take notice of getting on the bandwagon early - after the success of last years party, sponsorships will likely go quick!

Peace,

-Phil

Phil21 08-17-2004 10:32 PM

and - oh yeah, dress up. :) More fun. Made the mistake of not doing this last year.

January 6th, Vegas.

The Players Ball has 6 years of throwing the biggest webmaster event year after year. Raising sponsorships makes these parties happen. The money raised from these sponsors helps pay for the big name talent and production costs for this event.

Right now, I can lock in either 1 main sponsor, or 3. Depends on the amount they'd like to spend. Then we'll have the next level sponsorships which will still get massive exposure. That will be much less money.

Then, if you can't afford to be a bigger sponsor, we also have smaller packages available which will get you passes and private tables.

Basically, we can custom make a package that will provide you with exposure and party perks. We're about to swing into heavy promotion leading up to this event.

In the past, we've proved that we deliver what we say we'll deliver. I said we'd have Snoop Dogg perform a full concert, we did. Our talents include Snoop, Xzibit, Slick Rick, Doug E Fresh, Naughty By Nature, Too Short, Digital Underground, Original P (P-Funk members), Third World, Kid Capri, DJ Green Lantern, DJ Sasha, Ice-T and many others I can't even name off the top of my head. Point being, we always have a big artist, that's guaranteed.

Last year was a huge success for us. Sponsors had their private tables, private rooms, VIP really was VIP and it wasn't crowded and everyone got in smoothly.

2005 has a bunch of potential huge artists in the running. Snoop Dogg (maybe with 213), Cypress Hill, LL Cool J, Ludacris and Busta Rhymes are all in the running. Once I get a better feel for sponsorships raised, then we lock in the artist. Snoop wants to do it again and is holding the date for us.

I'll take a deposit now to lock it in and you can get months of exposure instead of waiting until the final weeks leading up to the event. if you can't afford a deposit yet, give me a verbal and set a date to make a deposit. This gives me the ballpark figure of what I can raise so we can afford the best performers and venue.

January will be pimp and ho again, dress the role. If you can't dress the role, we can still get you in the party, you'll just look lame.

Hit me up at darren at marketingfirm .com if you're interested in locking in these spots before they sell out. I do set a limit to the main sponsors then no more will be added.

Anyway, thanks for the support for the last 6 years and 12 Players Balls.

Don't be a fool, lock it in and get months of exposure. We promote this event all year.

The D$ Show will be airing live shows again and we fully expect to have the sponsors promoting their services when we go live again within the next week or so.

What kinda cash we looking at to be the sole main sponsor ??

If you get Cypress Hill I'm in :thumbsup

For the amount, ICQ me 38373031 if you don't wanna mention it here.

But I feel ya.

I have a basketball court for sale, if any of your big baller talent needs a court I can sell it for 19K. 3% Finders fee!
2 BPI Backstops
9 pallets of tile and padding
48x95 = 4,560 Square Feet

It would also make a very affordable booth at Internext 2005.

We were in on the very first Player's Ball with D$, featured act was Long Beach Dub Allstars... and I can certainly say that D$ knows how the game is played and he knows how to treat sponsors right.

D$, drop me a line and let's see what Team Homegrown can do.

Sharpie 08-18-2004 10:25 AM

D-Money did a very good job with his event at Cybernet in San Diego. It of course was less crowded & a differnt type of venue. But, putting on any successful event is a job and takes some experience and expertise.

One thing about DMoney - he has learned from previous mistakes & listens....... and knows the value of picking the right venue to give less headaches. Leaving the Venition solved 75% of his past problems....:-)

The first will always have a special place in my heart. Not knowing if people would show, learning lessons about rock stars and private hotel suites ruining them, how to book live talent yourself instead of using "High Octane" to book it. They didn't even make the offer to LBDA , 3 weeks away from the gig. Then I took it over and handled it, never lost control of my event since.

Far-L and Homegrown were the very first sponsors back then, with a few others. We had 2000 people show up to Club Utopia, packed the place. Great night.

Anyway, thanks for the props Far-L and Fay (Cybernet Fay).

Experience will keep you sharp. Nothing gets you on top of you game more then past mistakes. I'm lucky I've kept them to a minimum over the years. My biggest mistakes was the Venetian's C2K staff screwing our people.

We have lot's of interest since I've made this post and I'm very greatful for the respect I've received so far. Sometimes putting these events together feel very unappreciated. Then you skip one trade show and people beg me to come back. haha

Love it.

Fuck yeah, your shit is the best out there.

If you'll work for exposure, I'll work with you. Don't have money raised yet. lol

But I can help you get more video work if you'd like to plug your URL at the end of the trailors.

It will get seen, I promise that.

And my live show will give you extra support.

Biggy2 08-18-2004 02:08 PM

Didn't you post how you were done with Internext shows, or players balls.. im a little confused, but glad to hear its back.

XPays 08-18-2004 02:28 PM

d- don't forget to hit up pussycash - i know they would like a shot at the main sponsorship.

Bugbee 08-18-2004 02:39 PM

bump for shnizzle

Far-L 08-18-2004 03:09 PM

D$: How you handled the problems even way back when is what earns my respect more than anything else. You may be better now at some of the details, but you have always been "on the money" so to speak with taking responsibility for making your events successful for sponsors and attendees.

If anyone needs a recommendation then they are free to contact me...

...btw...

I still think that 1st show set a standard by which all the others... and I even mean the Snoop show too... are judged... but that is just me...

;-)
