Anyone ever merged programs before?

I was chatting with someone, about the potential of merging programs

Ie; partnership a + partnership b = new partnership program

I should have 6 sites by the end of the summer, they already have more than that

the advantage for me is the database of webmasters, which will be available, the advantage for them is that the sites compliment their sites, there is no overlap, and should potentially increase webmaster program participation

the biggest thing may be a loss of control, I am reasonably happy the way things are growing in a solid gradual improvement each month, (the slow burn, I call it) certainly if I merge, this will change

Has anyone else ever done anything like this?
Suggestions and comments appreciated

I did in a way.

But You can easily get fucked this way because You as more You get paysites which belong (partially) to other people - the more You got to care and the worst thing that if You're honest - You'll care and if they are not?

Simple PR will not let You tell them "FUCK OFF" as soon as You are publicly together.

And imagine a situtation when some of Your partners does something wrong with HIS paysite - it will come back to all of Your sites.

I'd reccomend not to do such stuff unless there's something Your partner will bring which You cant bring Yourself. Otherwise You'll also earn less money.

Also, how would You set the card processing for Your partners? If they have independent processing - then the whole thing wont work (because the only real cool thing about it is ONE base of webmasters, but they are such lazy asses who wont join several independent accounts and receive several independent checks just because You advertise them all together). If the card processing along with billing company along with the account in that company will be same for every site - then You'd have two problems on Your hands:

a) How You gonna let someone to see Your real stats and income? Pretty nervous shit I think (at least so it was with me).
b) Who's gonna be the first to get the funds ? How are You going to decide that one?

If You're really interested in all that shit - leave Your email or ICQ and I'll send You some details.

I think this has been done..way back when...

does anyone remember 411forsex I think that's what it was?

They had a bunch of sites under there company label. mabye one of the guys from wired solutions would remember...

I wouldn't mind partnering with other sites that have different niches to offer...would be cool, and a great way to diversify without all the headaches and costs usually associated with rolling out a new campaign.

Thanks for the comments, there are certainly a lot of things to consider

Since the company is much bigger than I am, I just want to make certain that I look at all aspects of this before I go further, and educate myself as much as possible

I have a high regard for the quality of their websites, and try to provide good quality on my own, so that isn't a big worry at this stage.

I am mainly concerned with the money legal and liability aspects of this

So for example, in a scenario where one of their websites had a playboy model on thie pages and were sued, what implications would that have for me should I merge?

Hm.
I think I dont have to be a lawyer on that one.

In case You got papers (contracts) with Your partners which legally define who's responcible for what - then most probably You'll get no troubles from Playboy.

In case You dont have such papers (and You wont in 99.9%) You'd be fucked along with other sites.
Exactly that's the type of situation I explained earlier which in simple words can be described as:
If one member of Your party gets fucked - the rest will probably get fucked too.
