2257 requirements for secondary producers

So far I haven't seen any clear answer regarding the new requiremenets. Is noone able to make a list of what's actually required to be 2257 compliant?

How can you NOT have seen what is required?

Have you even read the law OR the proposed regulations? I only asked because the requirements are specifically stated in there.

This proposal is the worst scenerio

http://www.regulations.gov/freddocs/04-13792.htm

if you're prepared for that, then you're prepared for anything that actually happens

But what are the chances that those new regulations will actually pass? I mean it certainly doesn't look realistic at all from what I see.

Here is a draft of my letter to the DOJ. Please feel free to steal ideas and sections from it.

http://www.2257.com/draft_letter.htm

Several prominent lawyers have also drafted canned comments for you to use

A regulation doesn't have to pass any where. The AG has the power to alter a regulation as he sees fit and any alterations he makes do not go back before Congress.

He can take into account public comment but he does not have to change the proposals just because people don't like them.

Work on the basis that the proposals are a done deal and you won't be disappointed.

And in particular pay attention to the one that requires records to be available at your place of business between 8am and 6pm 365 days a year.
