got in with little effort... but that seems to be normal when you are dealing with popular night spots and trying to get 20 of your closest friends in... good to have someone that is a VIP in South Beach..
i sat on the couch for most of the night with bottle service.. and had a great time. great music.. but like it has been said before, to many locals trippin over the bottle service, like 10 webmasters, and no boobs.. :Graucho sorry that the peeps couldn't get in.. seriously, if it was "our" event.. who cares on what we were wearing.. ya know? (by the way if you're wondering, i was looking sexy... the most metrosexual I have been in at lease a year.. but not silky sexy like Lens & Kevin) :winkwink: oh.... and 150 bitches :) |

I never thought that would happen cauz of all the respect our bizz got arround here . But it happened with our BIGGEST client ... the new multi-million dollar club arround here fucked us up big time . Anyways shit happens ... but if you try too big at the first time, more shit then usual will happen . In every event there are a shitload of last minute spending and problems . But an experienced promoter can avoid a lot of them . |

They won't make the same mistake again. I'd be confident they'll AT LEAST have control of the monkey ass door guy next time around. The sad thing is that it seems like a safe assumption that a big night club would be professionally run. |

The attitude of the bouncers was very normal for a big club . They GOTTA be assholes . The error was to let the dogs do what they wanted when they should have been controlled |

damn that sounds like a raw deal. Id be wanting some cash in my hand.

Now that is fucked up! |
The problem with the Vip passes was that all you idiots with vip passes were going in the wrong door, partly because the Bus was dropping you off in the huge frenzy of people (public and webmasters)
WHEN you were suppose to go to the side door, People with Vip passes were walking in no problems. And to the guy that says 500 for 2 bottles of vodka is too much? welcome to Miami Beach, if you knew what our bill that night was (just from ordering vodka, magnums and everything else), you'd shit your pants. |

We went through the same thing. All cleanly dressed, with All Access passes and the moron bouncers wouldn't even look at us. XBiz Lori yelled at this guy enough to get us all in without having to wait too long. My big thanks to Lori for the line bump, I wasn't gonna wait around for an hour to get in. WG |
Our crew rolled in through the back door with no probs, thanks for the hookup Terry...didn't stick around for too long though, too crowded for my liking.
|
people sue here for shit like this.
come try to fuck people over with LA clubs and see how far you get. youll have guys knockin at your door in 2 days. la dont play with clubs. |
ahhhhh Miami, full of prestigious fucks with shiny clothes and shinier attitudes..glad I am far far away. :1orglaugh

see that's the problem with alot of these parties that companies hold. They don't have experienced promoters or organizers dealing with the owners/clubs.
I don't know how things are done in the US, but here in T.O, if a private party is booked, the parties pay a rental fee for the space they want whether it be complete or partial n the ppl are given line by-pass w/ wristbands and the areas are sectioned off. These things are sometimes overlooked by the owners and are not enforced. It is imparitive for the organizers to stress the importance of the parties and have contracts signed for such events. You have to cover all the bases or else you end up looking like an idiot.:2 cents: I invite anyone to come to Toronto and I'll show them how we do thing here!!!:winkwink: :thumbsup |

I totally agree. |
Sounds like it was a extremely difficult to get in unless you had more than extreme connections. Then once inside, it was a mad crush where you had to shell out too much cash for everything?
How is that different from going to that same club next Saturday night? Seriously, I don't get it... :helpme |

In my mind, the bigger the club, the clever the staff... Maybe my own attitude, but I still believe that NOBODY is rich, big, whatever you want enough to act like an asshole... :2 cents: |

I have thrown many parties here in Philly. It is messed up that someone from Xbiz/Giga or whomever was not working the door with the bouncers...or totally worked the door itself. If people like Kevin and Len's status rolled up in one of our parties wearing nothing...we would walk them in, and buy them a round. You can only do that if you control the door. It is ashame that local club bouncers controlled the door, and no one was there from xbiz/giga to make sure things were under control. It is more than just a sponsors job...like Terry...knowing and expecting what was going to happen and took care of the people he knew he had to take care of...... He did his job as an educated sponsor. Were any of the sponsors made aware that this would not be a totally private party and the public would be brought in? I mean...come on..... $6,000 sponsorships as six sponsors....and then heavy bottle service and $11 drinks.....anyone that knows anything about promoting parties....I know philly and nyc, not south beach....but a smart promoter was not only making money from the sponsors, but also got a cut of the bottle service and bar too. This was a nice night for someone. Got to control your door. Got to make your sponsors happy. Got to make sure VIP's are actually VIPs. It was a webmaster event....wasn't it? It cracks me up that a small handfull of those here that are educated on the nightlife scene in south beach act so quickly to pounce on people from all around the world on what they should have expected. The dress code should have been on all promotional materials, VIP's should have been limited and actual real vip status given....isn't that was the $6,000 paid for? To be a VIP then have nothing but a requirement to pay to be able to be in VIP? lol. Trust me....we make a ton of money with bottle service here too....but man.....this was a heavily sponsored, private event....and nothing was complimentry? Wow....not even for an hour or two? Wow. With a group that large an alcohol distributor would have given cases and cases of free product to push out....and same thing for bottles in the VIP section too. Some people should stick to webmastering while others stick to throwing parties and events. just my :2 cents: |
Quote:
Philly the same way....the only difference....we deal with you that night....not in two days. |

I am from Los Angeles and well aware of the "scene" Paying $14.00 for two bottles of water is ridiculous. And if this is the best Miami exclusive club then why are there a bunch of local trash snoop dogg gangsters getting in with their jerseys?? Nice! I could give a shit about Miami nightlife. It sucks and is overrrated. |
How is that different from going to that same club next Saturday night? Seriously, I don't get it...
Anyone care to share a story of a deal made at this event that could not have been made otherwise? A business deal I mean. |
I think it's kind of silly to blindly assume that everyone would know to where appropriate clothes. Yes, it is common sense to most of us and I would have been looking all sorts of sexy, BUT it also would have been very easy for any webmaster to assume that he could have wore whatever he wanted because shit, it WAS a webmaster party and he DID have VIP passes.
Anyway, I wasn't there, had no desire to be there, and am definitely glad I didn't try to go there. I've only been to a couple of the industry club parties so far and my personal favorites have been where most of the crowd consisted of people in the industry. But hey, that's just me. |
It sounds like the sponsors really got fucked on this deal..
You'd have been better off saying, hey lets all make plans to go to x club, and we'll try and get everyone in and buy everyone drinks. What is sounds like you got was to foot the bill for Alien Ant Farm so a bunch of self important Miami fucks could enjoy them. I mean really.. what did you get for your money? VIP passes ignored, VIPs expected to spend hundreds of bucks to sit in the section the sponsors supposedly paid for? Definitely sounds like they pulled a fast one. |
I certainly don't want to lynch anyone from GigaCash- I know they worked very hard and got screwed...
However there are certain measures to take when dealing with clubs like this one...and Lord knows I have seen this shit happen with my brother, D$ t a lot of venues...mostly C2K For one- I recall the Snopp Dogg show when Ron Levy who was a VERY LARGE sponsor was with us for a pre meeting hours before the doors opened- he personally threatened the security guards and told them point blank that if people didn't get in...heads would roll. While that wasn't the best tact to take ( it changed the mood of the bouncers a bit ) it did put them all on a sort of "warning" that we'd be watching them closely. Secondly, after assisting D$ with every Players Ball- I learned the most important thing is to get your sponsors and VIP's in no problem and with no questions asked. If you have ever taken the time to notice- I am always standing at the door of the Vegas Player's Ball's being my brother's eyes and ears. There are simply so many tasks that have to be done and a myriad of last second things that arise for the performer's , the venue, and the staff that it comes down to last minute shuffling. By standing at the door- I am an asset to my brother. For one, I have familiarity with everyone in the business- I KNOW WHO IS WHO, I also know who the sponsors are.... When there is a mad crush at the door I have always been able to get those of you in who needed to be in. It is never about playing favorites or that a guy didn't bring chicks to the pary- it's about being "prepared". When going to any Internext event - always know ahead of time- what time does the party start? Where is the party? Is there transportation? Dress code? It's a lot like a job interview and G-d knows most of you guys would never make it i the "real world" if you don't understand how to simply follow directions. Would you ever go to a job interview in shorts and a t shirt? How about being late? I am always early to everything, and I am always dressed appropriately- Not too mention, I always HAVE MY ID on me . There was only one time that I can eve recall getting someone in without ID and that was Aria Giovanni's little brother- At the time he was only 18 but he was marked with X's on his hands so he couldn't drink- the only reason the club made an exception was because we told them Aria was hosting the show and if she didn't get in the show was over.... It worked out. I think the only way to do future Player's Ball's is what I have been telling my brother for two years - we need to send the passes in the mail ahead of time period.... Of course then we'll have all the idiots who will say they left them at home... You can never really win as the promoter unless it's very organized and I don't want to take anything away from Gigacash they are a fine company. I will say however that last year's Players ball at Prana was the best ever for one reason. The sonsors all were HAPPY. There are so many different variables involved when choosing the venue, the artists and the attire... I still think D$ does this every year, I also know that we had our issues in the past with bad doormen and clubs that fuck everyone- but most people know that D$ is usually screaming his head off at people who don't do their job correctly in the venues. Also if you are one of the people that I have helped get into any Player's Ball event- You're welcome :) |

Because VIP passes were the common issue passes, you didnt have the good ones, which said "ALL ACCESS" |
The one thing I would have done if I were in their situation is this.
I'd ask, what time do your locals get to the club? Then I'd tell our crowd to get there 2 hours before, so they're all in. That's IF I can't get the club exclusively. At least that way everyone that needs to get in, is in. Clubs try to project an image, turning people down is in part for showing others they're the upscale club. If your crowd shows up before the normal crowd, that solves the crowded local thing, and have a representative at the door to make sure there's no problems. I'd rather let the locals get turned down due to being a packed venue, sorry, no room inside, can't get in no matter what clothes you're wearing. But again, it took me years of learning by mistakes. I swear I could write a book about throwing events within an industry. I also never had a deal with a venue to allow locals in, unless it was hours after my crowd and IF we had room for them. Usually, I pay a little more to have it be exclusively our crowd. The problem I had was people getting passes from within the convention, then selling them outside of the club, or bouncers taking tips to slide in locals. |

fuck that, I had the "all access" pass. which gave the club all access, to make me pay for $10 drinks, not allow me sit down on a couch, etc.... Everytime I walked up to a roped in area, I was pointed to the general public area, until I shoved the all access pass in the bouncers face, and got fucking irate. |

We got there around 1230ish/1AM maybe and there was a huge line - i got let in thru the backdoor. There were epiccash flash screens in the back of our limo bus, as well as a big screen in one of the main rooms i believe for epiccash, that was the only promotions for the adult companies i saw besides the companies on the pass.
i guess lil jon owes you p1mpdogg, i saw him come into the club around 2:30ish with his bodyguards, I doubt they gave him any problems.. and he wasnt dressed as cleanly as many of the webmasters who got turned away :) but on a separate note, I had a great time. As far as spending money, being from NYC im used to spending a couple hundred bucks to buy enough drinks to feel anything so that didn't really upset me, but if i drove 45 minutes to not get in, id be pretty pissed off too.. |

You paid good money to get your name in front of webmasters, do some advertising. I'd be livid that your potential/current business partners were being turned away while the general public was let in. Ridiculous. :2 cents: |

Lots of student clubs too ... Big clubs in toronto / mtl / ottawa, especially multi-million $ clubs wich are the most popular and get 3x the demand they can fill, hire very rude bouncers . When somebody cannot get in, there is no argument . If you aren't rude with some people they start talking big shit and start fights . It's really not the same thing as where you are right now . Quebec city is totally different . One culture . One of the main aspects of the problems is the multi-cultural background of the people . Example : Mix between english and french people . That just don't happen much where you live |
So what's the official word from Xbiz? Have they responded yet?
|
Sounds like i saved myself a huge freakin headache.
For the past few conventions parties have been goin down the drain. The same thing happened a couple of months in San Diego. The club was filled with non-webmasters and there was only ONE bar in the whole 3 floors where the drinks were at a discount (not free). From now on, i have my fun at the hotel :thumbsup |
Even those rapedrugs the bouncers were selling didn't seem to have any effect on that Heidy chick. She kept on talking and talking. So I had to listen to her bullshit crap and try to be charming.
Luckily she turned out to be another rather easy latina... |
