HELP: what's the best software to protect my computer from crap from web ??

I am having some big troubles with all the fucking viruses, spam and other shit on the web. I need some good software that can delete, block or filter this shit. Currently I am using Norton Internet Security 2004 .. but seems it can't do all the job itself. What software do you use and reccomend ? I need to get the shit out of my computer ...

All free for personal use

SpyBot Search and Destroy
AdAware
Spywareblaster
Spywareguard
AVG AntiVirus
Kerio Personal Firewall (if you don't use a router)

Switch from IE to Mozilla or Opera

Enjoy

Use a firewall, an antivirus and mozilla to surf the web.. don't forget to filter everything going out from your computer.

Don't use Outlook.. use Eudora...

Don't use Internet Explorer.. use Firefox.

You'll then be 98% safe.

First thing I would recommend is removing all things Norton from your system. Seriously.

In addition to adaware, spybot and some other good programs mentioned above the very best thing for your system is to hawkeye everything that passes your screen. You don't have to click Yes to download lyrics. Click the X a couple of times and the nag goes away. Don't click No or Cancel on these boxes, those can be set to whatever value the page author wants.

If you regularly update your system at Windows Update and your online enhancements like java, shockwave, etc. you should rarely encounter a site that says something on your system needs to be "updated".

Yes there are some scumware out there that can install without user intervention, but most spyware on people's systems that I've cleaned don't fall into this category

I have a layered defence around here, I have the Linksys wireless which has a very basic firewall, followed by the Norton Internet Security 2004, and I have spent a few days tweaking that so my pain level isn't all that bad. I run anti-virus scans three times a week, and Spybot Search and Destroy once a week.

The one thing I do that has prevented me from getting one e-mail virus on any of my machines in the last four years, is SSH'ing to a remote server and reading my mail in Pine. I also take steps there to filter all the spam and virus mails with Procmail, and anything interesting enough to read in techincolour can be forwarded to my laptop.
