What's the trick to getting listed in yahoo directory?

Last I checked they were still asking for $600 to submit a site, with no guarantees of getting listed.

However a free adult site of mine recently got added to their directory and is bringing in some nice sales.

Do they have their own editors that add sites by hand, or do they use dmoz, how does that work?

I guess I just want to know who's pecker I have to suck to get more sites listed in there for free. (figure of speech)

I never had any problems getting listed.
Be curteous and it should be ok.

Anyway, even if they decide not to list (and that's unlikely) you have 30 days to fix it, and they give you the reason why they didn't want it.

But one question, why do you want a Yahoo! listing.. traffic from the directories is now almost non-existant..

You're talking about the paid submission?

I don't want to pay the $600. I was just wondering how a site ends up getting added for free.

The reason I was interested is because it seemed that shortly after my admission to the directory I ended up with the #1 spot for the keyword I was shooting for. Maybe that was just a coincidence though, as it does appear that there is almost no traffic coming from the directory itself, but I was thinking maybe that the directory listing had some correlation with my better position in the regular yahoo search.

Yeah the directory traffic is pretty much gone now that they are more of a pure search engine.

Sad really.. that directory traffic was gold..

For free?!!

If it's not commercial and or adult it's going to take a couple of months before they review it.. And don't expect an explanation if they don't accept it.

Ya, this free site of mine was listed for free, so I was wondering how it even got there, since there doesn't appear to be a way to list sites for free anymore.

You used to go to the category you wanted and hit submit a site, but now they only have the paid option available.

So do they just have some clown surfing adult sites all day and picking ones he likes to add to the directory?

edit: actually I just checked and it appears only the adult categories require paid listings, seems you still have the choice of free submit for other categories.

You should thank God because that's a miracle. I don't know what happened with your site.

Maybe it was an editor from Florida who wanted to do a good deed because of the fear of dying.. I really don't know how your free adult site got in there..

Take good care of it..

One of my sites recently got listed in the Yahoo directory, but I don't know how because I never submitted it to them.
