People over 35 should be dead !!!!

- Here's why

According to today's regulators and bureaucrats, those of
us who were kids in the 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, or even
maybe the early 70's probably
shouldn't have survived.

Our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based
paint.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or
cabinets, and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets.

Not to mention the risks we took hitchhiking.

As children, we would ride in cars with no seatbelts or air
bags.

Riding in the back of a pickup truck on a warm day was
always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.
Horrors!

We ate cupcakes, bread and butter, and drank soda pop with
sugar in it, but we were never overweight because we were
always outside playing.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one
bottle, and no one actually died from this.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps
and then rode down the hill, only to find out we forgot the
brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we
learned to solve the problem.

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as
long as we were back when the street lights came on. No one
was able to reach us all day. NO CELL PHONES - Unthinkable!

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo 64, X-Boxes, no
video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, video tape
movies, surround sound, personal cell phones, personal
computers, or Internet chat rooms.

We had friends!

We went outside and found them.

We played dodge ball, and sometimes, the ball would really
hurt.

We fell out of trees, got cut and broke bones and teeth,
and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. They were
accidents! No one was to blame but us. Remember accidents?

We had fights and punched each other and got black and blue
and learned to get over it. We were disciplined by our
friends parents and neighbors too and our parents approved.

We made up games with sticks and tennis balls and ate
worms, and although we were told it would happen, we did
not put out very many eyes, nor did the worms live inside
us forever.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's home and knocked on
the door, or rang the bell or just walked in and talked to
them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team.

Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment,
and try harder next time.

Some students weren't as smart as others, so they failed a
grade and were held back to repeat the same grade. Horrors!

Tests were not adjusted for any reason. Our actions were
our own. Consequences were expected.

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke a law was
unheard of. And if our teachers disciplined us, so did our
parents! They actually sided with what was right.

This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers
and problem solvers and inventors, ever The past 50 years
have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we
learned how to deal with it all. And you're one of them!

Congratulations!

Please pass this on to others who have had the luck to grow
up as kids, before lawyers and government regulated our
lives, for our own good!

People under 30 are WIMPS

Life for kids isn't fun anymore.

Between skateboards, bikes, mini-bikes, gokarts and our "brilliant" ideas - like one quarter of my skin is scar tissue

People over 35 should have been killed, because they are the ones lobbying and passing laws that create or prohibit the very things in that list.

I'm talking some Logan's Run shit here

That still exists, depending on what kind of parent is raising the child.

LOL, great list. I was just sitting here drinking a Coke and thinking about what they tasted like before the government taxed the sugar out of them. I'm going to order some Mexican Cokes which contain the true original formula

I call it the pussification of America. My fucking neighbor is the perfect example, makes their 6 year old wear a helmet when they put the top down in their car, won't let him go outside after 6PM because they are afraid of West Niles from mosquitos and won't let him play on our swingset because they are afraid he'll get hurt. One time another kid fell off his bike in front of their house and they called an ambulance, the kid didnt even have a scrape. They have actually called the cops on me because I let my kid ride his bike in our driveway without a helmet.

The bad thing is bastards like this are taking over the world.

totally agree, kids now have no concept of being 100% on your own when your car breaks down in th emiddle of nowhere, and having only your rigging skills to put it backk together to go that last mile..

A girl I know -24 has no concept of life without a cell or a computer. I see so many turn cells into leashes, -ie ---oh hwere were you? who were you talking too? who was it ? your cheting on me blah blah blah.

cars are a good example of pussification.

just really look at them they are built just for chics.
Christ makes me wanna gain 10 more lbs. belch a bit and be more crude than usual, and say Fuk em to all the pretty boys I see today.

Chopped wood, cleaned hogpens, built cars from scratch that drove and made our own engines and things.

if you do that today your a redneck and laughed at. Skills that MATTER arent appreciated.

OK... gotta go.

I have never been able to understand why people who came through their own childhoods in pretty good shape, apparently decided their children couldn't be brought up much as they were.

Nowadays parents seem terrified that anything should be demanded of their kids; prizes for turning up have replaced competition; guilt (for what?) is presumably behind inflated allowances and ridiculously expensive christmas and birthday presents. Worse, we are supposed to take kids seriously, like we don't know that by age 25 they will be embarassed by just about everything they ever said or did as teens.

That's one way of looking at it. I suppose you could also argue that the generation aged 35-55 wouldn't be turning into such lousy parents if their own parents hadn't screwed up one way or another...

Who should raise children, society or parents?

I'm 36.

Society taught me to hate gay people (Orange County, CA). My folks taught me not judge other people.

Society taught me that Russian citizens wanted to kill me with nukes. My folks taught me tht Russian citizens were probably just like us.

Society taught me that bad people want bad things to happen to me. My folks taught me that I'm responsible for my own fate.

The sad fact is that there are parents out there who are fucked up so much that society can raise their kids better than they can.

Yeah I've noticed this myself. One of my good friend has a little brother that is like 10 years younger then us. Its weird how much of a difference those 10 years makes.

I don't think we are doing kids of the world ANY good by pussifying everything.

and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. They were

Hell Im not quite 30 yet and all that shit is true brings back memories of making some god awful ramp out of some half ass rotten wood and jumping our bikes off it and building tree houses that thinking back now were just waitingf to fall out of the tree. I remember walking down my road in the summer time and walking the yellow line in the middle of the road bare foot because it was cooler on the feet than the hot ass road. Hated wearing shoes as a kid, bottom of my feet were like leather back then

I had tears in my eyes when I read this.. So true, so true..

However..

My kids are basically are raised the way I was (and I am WAY over 30 lol). They are now adults, productive and smart... (and they are under 30 lol)

Life was not simpler than, it just had less media

My parents didn't own a TV until I was 13. We had child molesters in town and my parents told us to stay away from him, because he was weird.

Our neighbor took pleasure of beating the crap out of us and nobody every said anything, even tho Wolfi got beat up so bad by the Priest that to this day has belt marks.

We became more aware of what happend than (I grew up in the 60's)

I never made my kids wear a helmet when they drove their bikes, but I make my girls have a cell phone.

Oh well, each has its up and down. I know MANY who turned into losers and wack jobs who are now my age. They smoke pot and never got anywhere even to this day.

Good and bad in both

I grew up taking care of my grandmother and great grandmother. I didn't have time to be a kid or a prima donna.
