What camcorder do you use?

Im looking at getting a new camera and was wondering what everyone here uses.

Im looking into getting a Sony TRV900 or if money willing a Canon XL1S. But would like some more options.

3ccd cameras only please.

We use the canon xl1 and the jvc gy-dv500, both good higher end cameras. The xl1's can be bought very cheaply nowadays. The JVC is by far the best mini dv camcorder i have ever used, the image quality is far better than most 3ccd minidv camcorders but they are big and bulky and expensive. I love our xl1 its is just a great versital camera

This was probly a bad time to ask this question since everyone is at the convention.

XL1 vs XL1S

Do you think the newer one is worth it?

We have 2 TRV900's. Have had them for 5 years, and have been very happy with them. Just got to make sure to take them in for servicing on a regular basis if you're over using them. My next camera is going to be the Sony VX2100. I like that it's bigger and has the handle on the top, so it will be much easier to keep steady then the tiny hand held 900's. I did side by sides with the sony's and canon's, and personally didn't care for the color reproduction on the canons (your opinon could be different). I've heard very good things about that JVC mentioned eariler.

Yep. I'm ready to get a digital still camera but I'm not even going to bother asking inputs on the models I'm considering until everyone's back.

I use the vx2000 I am very happy with it. I dont think they make the 900 anymore I think its the 950 now. How much camera you need depends greatly what you are shooting the video for , is it for the net , for dvd or cable tv. That question would have to be answered first.

Currently Im only worried about the web. But I would like to have the option to goto dvd in the future.

I know they stoped making the 900's but I was looking at getting one used.

Trv900 is too old, IN 3ccd we use all of the following: TRV950 / Canon GL2 / VX2100 It depends on what you shoot. Overall I would recommend spending a little x-tra $$$ and get the VX2100, (sony) IT IS A BAD M.F. It is INCREDIBLE in low light and the stabilization is awsome. The GL2 has a awsome 20X optical zoom and is less than half the weight of the VX2100. The TRV950 is just a great back up cam for us. It depends on your budget but all three are . If your doing studio / controlled shoots go with the VX2100. We only shoot club / beach spring break footage with the TRV950 cameras, they are DISCRETE and cheaper to replace! Hope this helped-
