Is there any place, except for google/yahoo etc, to buy large amounts of good mainstream traffic or is it a myth? Any experience, tips? Preferably country-targeted....

Your best bet IMHO is to go with one of the big traffic and advertising clearing houses. The first one that comes to mind is ValueClick.

They have a system set up that will allow you to absolutely geotarget and train your traffic down to the absolute T. Not to mention they have a very large reach into the mainstream.

If you have a really good idea about what you're doing and how you would like to approach it, it could prove to be a good deal.

Be careful however, because it can get costly quickly so make sure you have everything setup on your end completely before dealing with a company such as this. When it comes down to it, it all depends on what you're looking to sell and either testing the shit out of it until you find something that sticks or approaching the same concept in a completely unheard of manner.

The other big players I don't have very much experience with more or less due to my lack of confidence in their abilities and systems, but I would look for more to be on the safeside.

Whatever you do though, don't go after the the mortgage and financial market unless you have the $$$ to back it up.
