Pearl Harbor Opens to Universal Bad Reviews.
Havent seen it yet but the critics HATE IT!This sucks! I was hoping it would be good.
Still gunna go see it tonight. Pearl Harbor has alwyas intrested me.. The critics seemed to love the actual pearl harbor attack scenes and said its detail was very accurate and well done.. BUT they say the attack is at the end of the movie, and until then we are forced to watch the fictional love story that takes nearly 3 hours before we actually see what we wanna see. Why do these movies have to do that? Mess up Epics like a pearl harbor with some cheesy love story and then show us "pearl harbor" only for the last 20 minutes of the film? I think I will show up late to this one to catch the good stuff. [This message has been edited by boneprone (edited 05-25-2001).] |

That's why you should wait for "WindTalkers".
Same war, except Johm Woo directed it, so you know the action will be good. Plus we did the body FX, so you know it's gonna rock. **NOTE** A world record was set during the filming of Windtalkers. John Woo, used more extras (people running around in the background) and more explosions in one scene than any other filmmaker in history. ![]() And on a more personal note: FUCK YOU DICK STENTA!!! This asshole who was the UPM, (after the first UPM was fired) is the biggest fuckin' asshole in film today. Since were talking about movies here i want an opinion..
I loved the Movie but did not think Tom Hanks was the right person for Saving Private Ryan. Hes like a little puppy.. Someone more like Tom Berringer would fit a soldier Much better.. Your Thoughts?? |

Hanks is great but not the top choice for a soldier. Sort of like putting Sean Penn as a romantic lead when he's only good for idiot roles. lmbo
Berringer would work! |

..fAnatic..
And you're right Tom Hanks is good in romantic comedies and plain comedies. He way overacts in his dramatic roles. Berringer would have been better but he doesn't have the same box office draw as Tom does. And just like you push gay content because it makes money, the studios push the top actor because they make money. They may not be the best for the role but they'll make the most money. ---side note--- I got to read some more "one liners" from matrix 2 this weekend. Looks pretty cool so far. ![]() ------------------ ...:::End Of Line:::... ------------------ * [email protected] * uSexFan.com * ICQ : 114683191 |

Disturbingly, Pearl Harbor continues Hollywood's trend of sacrificing historical accuracy for dramatic fiction in it's neverending quest to put more bums on seats.
That Ben Affleck's character has just returned from Europe having fought in the Battle of Britain and incarceration in a prisoner of war camp is completely laughable, just as the idea that Ralph Fiennes injured character in The English Patient would be transported back home to Britain via war-torn Italy. And the list doesn't end there. U-571 is an absolute joke: American sailor's boarding a German U-boat to capture a Enigma cypher machine is how Hollywood tells the story. History, on the other hand, tells us that the first Enigma was captured by the British before the US even entered the war! There are other transgressors: Saving Private Ryan forgets that even the landing craft delivering US soldiers to the D-Day beaches were piloted by the men of the Royal Navy, and even Schindler's List strays from the truth in it's depiction of Oscar Schindler. There are countless other examples. History is being bastardised left, right and centre and 99.9% of the audience is none the wiser. Worse still, many of these movies are used as teaching aids and are held up as being 100% historically accurate by people who should know better. And all so that some fat executive sitting in some plush studio office can make an extra buck. Buy the way, the two main characters managed to get thier planes in the air during the attack on Pearl... something that never happened in reality. We never got a plane off the ground. They credit them for shooting down seven Zeros that were actually shot down by real, live, breathing men in uniform... real heros.. Not this corps of fictional Army pilots also get credited for the attack on Tokyo by the real Dolittle Raiders, some of whom were executed after being captured by that Japanese. They didn't even have the decency to find the name of the real copilot who flew with James Dolittle... he gets credited only as "Dolittle Copilot". At least they did have the character of Doris "Dorie" Miller, a real hero of Pearl Harbor... The black cook who took to the 50 cal in the attack... but they barely followed his character, inserting him in as though he were out of place and not giving him the credit for all that he really did I know that history is written by the victors but where does is say that it should be rewritten 50 years later in the name of greed? Is this what they fought for? ------------------ wiZd0m Fortune Pussy Adult Links |

I think that insead of Tom Hanks, Luke Perry would have been the best choice.. He is soo manly and would be the best war hero in my opinion.. I loved him in 90210.. What a stud.

That movie sucked. We went an hour into the film and we missed nothing.
The best part was when the japs dropped their bombs on a public park. Why would ten planes drop their only bomb on civilians? I think the japs are just evil. Why is it that I count about 5 civilian deaths on the pearl harbour casualty list yet I see the japs bombing hospitals in this stupid movie? I don't care the explosions were worth it. Seeing Ben Affleck's fat head wasn't |
