This gives you the wide perspective from NOAA's GOES Satellite. Looped to show directional patterns.

I'll pack late Wednesday night. Then I'll get to FLL and realize I forgot half of what I needed to pack. Happens every single trip. I'm used to it now :)

I fully expect all the menfolk to do the right thing and lend the girls their jackets, should such an emergency take place. Buff and ripped guys first, please. Aw heck, might as well take off the shirt too, while you're at it. :Graucho

50 deadly dangerous hurricanes.
Nice. If all of you die then there' s bigger piece of the pie for me.

John_Doe 08-11-2004 04:32 AM

The weather sucks in Florida.

Hammer 08-11-2004 05:16 AM

I've lived in Florida for most of my life and I'll bet anyone a box of Krispy Kremes that this hurricane hits Louisiana and we won't even feel a breeze as it goes by.

MickeyG 08-11-2004 05:20 AM

If it does come close they will evacuate the hotel. It'll be funny to see everyone from internext stuffed into one of the local shelters.

Raven 08-11-2004 05:26 AM

Let's see.

Florida?

August?

Hurricane season?

Who would have thought?

hahaha... amen!!! Glad someone finally said it!

At least the news here in Tampa is smart enough to say that they'll be changing the forcasted path a lot over the next couple of days because it's moving so quickly. Currently, it's scheduled to come ashore near Ft. Myers on Friday... the other side of the state from Internext.

Of course, that sucks for those of us driving down on Friday who have to take that route rather than going thru Orlando.

Either way - it's summer in Florida... it's gonna be warm (even if there IS a hurricane nearby) and it's gonna downpour at some point. Same thing every year! :thumbsup

Safe trip everyone!!

Cheers!

You don't know what you're talking about. The weather is just right here.

Nicely balanced with sunshine, rain, beautiful lightning storms, and year round moderate temperatures.

You never freeze your ass off here. Never have to shovel snow. Never bake with scorching heat.

It's perfect.

chase 08-11-2004 05:57 AM

I disagree. I've lived here for 25 years, just a tad north of Tampa, and I'm so friggin sick of the heat. My kids hate to play outside b/c it's so hot in the summer. In the winter or fall, they are always outdoors, but in the summer they are always underfoot and bored.

We don't have basements in Florida:1orglaugh

Bonnie isn't even going to be near Miami... it's scheduled to move onshore as just a tropical storm way up in the panhandle.

Yeah, anything more than 24 hours prediction for a hurricane is not worth listening to. They can stall, back up, build up, etc.

Looking at Bonnie, unless it changes it looks more like it wants to land between Gulfport MS and Pensacola FL

Right where my son is! He's almost giddy waiting for it :)

JerseyPuma 08-11-2004 07:18 AM

this one definitely has the potential to make it a shitty-weather-filled weekend at Internext. Not looking like a direct hit at all, but the bands these things spray out make for ridiculous amounts of rain and lightning and other stuff you want to be inside for.

NoCarrier 08-11-2004 07:21 AM

Looks like the beach parties are going to be cancelled.. :1orglaugh

Looks like we're getting more and more in the strike zone.

The Gods are angered by a porn convention, apparently....

Kimmykim 08-11-2004 09:22 AM

Damn, and I just bought two really cute bikinis to wear this week ;)

I wouldn't worry about the hurricane yet, they tend to change paths pretty quickly. The '99 show at the Radisson in Miami was just a couple days after the locals had boarded up their homes. NY and Mass ended up get massive rain, Florida didn't even get hit...

The only Hurricanes I'll be seeing in Florida are the ones I order at the bar!

TheGoldenChild 08-11-2004 09:31 AM

Have fun.
I told everyone last year I wouldn't do this show again for one reason....

The weather.
After a rained out Players Pool party two years in a row, sweating profusely at every party held outside, and paying $20 bucks for a cheeseburger that is normally $9 bucks a week before we get there- it's easy to see why I would rather stay on the beach in San Diego.

I'll miss some people for sure- but they know how to find me, and I have partied with the same people at the same show for 6 years....

So what am I missing out on? The belly flop contest?

LOL

Does anyone know if the show is cancelled? I have been saving up for this all year for my airline ticket.

Peter Romero 08-11-2004 10:58 AM

Good thing I skipped this convention to go scouting

I doubt it would be cancelled :2 cents:
Even if we are hit, it would be by a category 2 maximum. I'm not even sure that evacuation orders would be issued for a category 2. However it would surely put a damper on Friday's activities.
But rememeber, this Friday is Friday the 13th :uhoh

NichePay_Manny 08-11-2004 11:49 AM

Wow I gues they are all going to get wet and wild!
