US goverment: something to think about with regards to Canadian pharmaceuticals

Sent to me by an American citizen earlier today....
If you're read this somewhere else already just move along.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

A car company can move its factories to Mexico and claim it's a free market. A toy company can outsource to a Chinese subcontractor and claim it's a free market. A major bank can incorporate in Bermuda to avoid taxes and claim it's a free market. We can buy HP Printers made in Mexico. We can buy shirts made in Bangladesh.

We can purchase almost anything we want from many different countries BUT, heaven help the elderly who dare to buy their prescription drugs from a Canadian (Or Mexico) pharmacy. That's called un-American!

Isn't it odd that the government feels these drugs are safe enough for the military to buy in bulk for our soldiers...(from the same countries at a savings of billions) -- but not safe enough for the seniors and poor in this country???

And you think the pharmaceutical companies don't have a powerful lobby? Think again!

Discuss....

This issue could affect a few people's votes. Anyone with grandparents who are on a tight budget might know how it feels to be tempted to look for cheaper sources of medicines.

I wonder what Kerry's stance on this issue is. Anyone know?

Let granny run to Canada to get her drugs cheaper, who gives a shit?

It's not like American based pharmaceutical companies are trying to do anything for the sick and elderly people anyways. Thats why people have to fight tooth and nail to get ANYTHING accomplished in the way of cost relief on medications.

The drug companies are right up there.

Dubya's balls may be small and shrivelled up, but they are in the hands of the drug companies.

I don't think the issue is so much letting Americans buy drugs from Canada.....that's more of a workaround to the real problem.

The real problem is the drug companies are price gouging American consumers....AFTER they take our tax dollars in the form of grants and tax credits/rebates to do research to come up with new drugs.

The U.S. should regulate drug prices the same way Candada does, then U.S. pharmacies can still stay in business while the American consumer gets a fair price.

There is a huge outrage here in Australia today because last night on national TV they showed a doctor who has been treating cancer pateints for 40 years, he was the head of some cancer institute at some time - this guy is no quack he has 26 letters after his name - he's top notch -
he's basically cured cancer patients with no chemo and yet he has been all but driven out of the medical profession here - in fact he's leaving the country later this year ..
the reason he's been blacklisted???

the pharmaceutical companies are going to loose billions if his treatment catches on - it consists of just one injection and a series of speacial xrays over 3 weeks

the news and radio stations are runngn hot with this story today

He'll be lucky if they let him leave the country. If he were in the US I'm sure the FDA would put a hit out on him and have him quietly disappear in a Hoffa-like manner.

i hope people run with it and keep in on the news. plus hit your local politicians with enough talk and they might fight to keep him around. not sure what the political system is like in australia, but if they smell a way to grab votes they'll run with it.

Probably... it's about not letting in foreign competition, because then they would have to lower their prices and that means less $$$ for the US drug companies.

You are absolutely correct, "cancer cure " is a major industry, from the drug companies to the fundraisers , there is no point finding the cure, they would all be out of a job

You can practicly control the US by using lobbies. They oughta be carefull about that and look into lobbies way more closely.

The really funny thing about this is, the drug companies are saying that the people buying drugs from outside the country will put them out of business.

That is a bunch of shit. There are a lot of drugs that you can not get outside the us, because they are still under patent. And you can not buy narcotics with out a perscription. Even in Mexico.

In fact getting those kind of drugs are easier to get on the streets in the US.

Or you can just make a deal with the kid at the pahrmacy to seel you the stuff out the back door.

You're comparing things that aren't regulated by law with something that is.

Can a Canadian buy a gun from America over the internet?

Plus, no one's been prosecuted for buying drugs from Canadian pharmacies. Granny can still get her stuff at a discount
