some good ones there. I think I'd add something from AC/DC to the list aswell. I used to like them in the late 80's :glugglug

I hate shit old metal why can't we count out anything before like 1990 and have some fear factory, slipknot, machine head, tool etc for the top five

warlock5 08-09-2004 07:43 AM

Fucking great thread. We need like a top 25 to be fair, but here are my votes.

1. Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark
2. Metallica - Fade to Black
3. Iced Earth - Melancholy
4. Cradle of Filth - Hallowed Be Thy Name (Iron Maiden cover, better than the original)
5. Too many good songs deserve #5, I can't decide :ak47:

Just had a debate about that song the other night and yes, I agree it is better than the original. I just don't think it is the best CoF song but yet it is the only that is ever played at a club I go to.

Few people will ever forget the day when Metallica decided the best way to stop napster was to start suing the people who were swapping their songs. This pissed off many long-time fans and critics.

MotorHead I seen them at the Palace "Melbourne" in 83
The opened up with IRON FIST. I could not hear a thing for three days after the gig, Awesome

but does it suddenly change their music? If people liked it before than surely it still sounds the same. I could still listen to Master of Puppets just about any day. Though, I did think it was funny when they did the Download Fest over here in the UK.

Well why don't you do that then? You can start your own thread and then I will respond with the Slipnot and Tool et al., as well ;) Btw Slipnot's latest CD kicks ass :thumbsup (feel better? lol)

I didn't know Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith were considered heavy metal ...

Metallica - Master of Puppets would certainly cut it out in my top 5 :)

X37375787 08-09-2004 08:12 AM

AC/DC Heavy Metal?

I may be ignorant, but I wouldn't consider them to be Heavy Metal. Hard Rock IMO.

warlock5 08-09-2004 08:26 AM

Led Zeppelin and AC-DC only because of the influence they had. Go back to their early days and that was about as hard as music got. Aerosmith - no.
