Fuck Pool!

I just got an email with a domain that I've won...

Guess what, the registrar that got it for Pool.com:

1) has a .info domain
2) has 5-page site
3) has no login or anything that would even suggest you can manage your domain online
4) has an email pool@shit_registrar.info to which I need to direct my inquiries and requests - handled within 48 hours!!!

That's it. Fuck POOL!

Most registars require the name to be registered at least 30 days before being transferred.

haha, me too - was it RGNames? Fucking assholes. Their English FAQs are in Korean. Took me at least 10 days to get my login / password.

On the 61st day it's transfer time, fuck this bullshit.

Pool.com fucked up on my first backorder too by charging me for the domain and then DROPPING it so someone else registered it - WTF? That took me a few weeks to get straightened out and credited for.

Fuck POOL.COM

Pool.com is reliable and must be used for dropped names you want, but they use too many small registrar partners. They catch drops better than clubdrop, nw, and gd/br. I've spent over 6 at pool.com and i trust them, but I still have to manage domains at 15+ registrars that dont have any support or english whatsoever. But the domains that were caught, once they are transferred where I need them to be, are worth the effort. 30-90 days depending on registrar. Make sure if you use pool, that you sign up as your own affiliate, the savings are worth it. I've secured domains for under $200 that were bid up to thousands on namewinner, etc. And vice versa. plus, pool will help you if you need it, call them. I've stopped using them as much only because I have all the domains that I need right now. LOL.

More info here:

Time For ICANN to Reign In Out-of-Control Registrars
http://www.dnjournal.com/editorial.htm

"In the midst of this gloomy storm, there may be one glimmer of hope on the horizon. On July 12, ICANN issued a new set of transfer rules governing registrars that are to take affect November 12, 2004. Among other things, these would require accredited registrars to use one standard form for transfers, have English language sites, provide auth codes within 5 days of request and would make transfer approval the default in case a registrar fails to respond. "

"You can file a complaint online with InterNic on any issues involving registrars here: http://reports.internic.net/cgi/regi...lem-report.cgi"

lots of good info at dnjournal.com plus top ten sales charts that will open your eyes to the new domain market tsunami. nearly $3M for creditcard.com/creditcards.com 2 weeks ago. harmony.com for $50K last week (no doubt to monetize eharmony.com traffic) I bought up the domains I wanted earlier this year because the prices were set to explode. I'm not suprised that the market has returned. checkout cnn, msnbc, fox, all the wire services are buzzing again.

topten chart and sales archives:
http://www.dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm

and no i'm not affiliated with anyone I mentioned above.

You're talking about the charhe for new credit card added?
I also replaced my credit card few weeks ago and they charged me $60, but they say it was just a temporary charge ( not even a charge, but i forgot how it's called ) just to check if the credit card is valid.

I was attempting to create an account with them, the charge was probably made along the lines of verification purposes. I'm just not sure why I have not received any further information on my account, no email activation link to verify my account.

Can't remember to be honest.

Makes me sick that these registrars just pop up to whore their registry connections and don't even have an ounce of support.

yes. btw, you have some amazing domains. have you had much success selling many recently? do you have a "short" list of what you're selling or are you looking for brand development & licensing opps?

Ask for Taryn, he was very helpful even if you're buying one name or a highroller. And Joyce is just as good. don't forget affiliate program signup.

there is one company that owns 3+ different accredited registrars all w/o any support, same front ends, but different logos. solely existing to catch dropped domains. things may change in the drop game if/when WLS takes effect. rules for registrars change Nov/Dec this year. finally.

yes, one of the best services. you only pay $60 if they get the name. if more than one person bids, it goes into 3 day private auction. expect it to go high. domains on pool go HIGH in auction format if the name is in high demand, high overture etc... commonly seen prices go to $25,000+. I know this for a fact because I bought one but it never got reported because there were only 4 ppl bidding and I asked Pool to keep it private... and I'm sure FMA/elequa was in it cause he bought a similar domain off greatdomains, plus I know which fortune 100 company was up against me, but they didn't know the rules to bidding, prob didn't read the info close enough. I got outbid on Messaging.com ($27k+ beat out by FMA) because I was on dialup at the time. damn. lol. saw carfinancing.com go for $20k+, bloghosting.com go for $20K+ but buyer defaulted so it moved into public auction. and I believe a $60K non-reported sale went through too. the market is awake again after a long nap. but lots of good names go cheap, in fact i missed out on xxxmodel.com for only $3k. pool is making so much money now, but even they fear the WLS, that's why they started the new sales/auctions section.

I might sell the software suite on ebay or domain board now that I'm out of the dropcatch game and in development mode now.

Sounds like just the thing I need (to fuel my addiction) but that could be dangerous at the same time. You're right, they do start to look the same after a while. I had some names they grabbed for me and then I thought to myself: "Did I really want that domain? Did I actually backorder that name??" Sometimes I forget

I've had some good luck with Pool but I've also had some very frustrating encounters as well, can't say for sure which way I'm leaning yet.

lol. congrats. very nice. and yes, WAY more. some very nice ones are dropping this week, but i'm holding back. I ran my old scripts and almost got pulled back into the game. so hard to stop looking because you have the voice in your head asking you, "What domains are you missing out on?" not safe to play this game. One of the last names I got from pool was for a high-income luxury section of a major City, a well-known phrase, and no one else bid on it, so $60 well spent. I didn't even know it was dropping till I got the email that it was secured. I put it in pool 6 months ago, just in case it dropped, to track it, and WHAM. has about 700,000 results in google... mostly businesses, etc... might charge businesses/realtors $5 a month to be on site. lol. maybe even $10 a year. but for every one of those "lucky" drops, there's domains that have 30+ people bidding on them and they skyrocket quickly.

I was just thinking, the name of this thread is "fuck pool" and yet its turned into "i love pool".

I might start a new thread just for domains...

Well, i am stil wondering how can you sign up as your own affiliate.
That would be like I sign up to an adult sponsor, and then create another account with them and join throguh a referral link of the first one. The first account would be inactive and used only to earn a few % more per sale.....I guess there's no sigle sponsor who would allow that.
