Best Firewall

What's the best Firewall? & why?
What Firewall are you using?

The top 3 seem to be: in no order
ZoneAlarm
(used in the past, don't like the updated version)
Norton Internet Security
(don't want to use any norton products on this system)
Panda Firewall Suite
(looks interesting)

What else is out there that supports both inbound & outbound connection attempt filtering?

Use Panda. Norton is dumbed down for newbies. Most of us don't need that shit.

Win XP SP2 (well maybe not just yet but it will be in the future)

I run the builtin firewall in XP at the moment and no problems... XP will beef that up and give me many of the extra features the zonealarm has

McAfee's.

You can check how vulnerable your PC's ports are with this online checking tester by ShieldsUp.

Just to let you know XP doesn't monitor outbound traffic. Meaning when a program is trying to acces the internet my McAfee firewall will tell me and ask me what I should do. I mean if you already have something in you computer that somehow you didn't get rid of, a lot of good that XP firewall will do you. Of course it's better than NOTHING which is what 90% of people have.

ZoneAlarm Security Suite has been getting pretty rave reviews. I'm using McAfee and it seems to do the job but I'm interested in the Zone Alarm one.

Of course no software firewall beats a physical one though.

Exactly. Even though I always forget to turn off the DMZ everytime I finish playing games.
