the point of a ghillie suit is to camouflage you from the patrols that are close. often times a sniper is deployed within feet of paths traveled heavily by enemy soldiers. for long range, phsyical cover is preferred, because of the amount of mobility one loses with a ghillie suit

FYI those "costumes" are called Ghillie Suits, and yep I sell em on eBay!

ok... so how is he lying down. all I see is a rock. Where is his head? Where is the gun? This pic looks to be taken at a close distance to the environment. So he should be easier to see. I still just see a rock that everyone is saying is the sniper.

There's some problems with this pic that makes me think its weekend warrior wannabe's.

The men in the back row, have their weapons pointing directly at the men in the front row. Even worse, one of the guys is the back rows main weapong is a Calico rifle which is a complete joke of a weapon... not something ANY real military would mess with.

:2 cents:

many well trained personal trust others in thier quits to point loaded unsafe guns near them, guns dont kill people, people kill people. these are the people you train and kill with daily, you trust them not to kill you.
