Thieves loot Paris' house

LOS ANGELES - Life's not so simple for poor little rich girls Paris and Nicky Hilton.
Cops are investigating a burglary at the celebrity sisters' Hollywood Hills home that reportedly netted hundreds of thousands of dollars in jewels, cash and personal items - including a laptop computer and videos and photos of Paris Hilton with her very recent ex, former Backstreet Boy Nick Carter.
They got "everything . . . just all my valuables. All my jewelry. All my money," Paris Hilton told KABC-TV yesterday outside the home.
Police declined to confirm exactly what was grabbed or how much it was worth.
"We are only saying it is a substantial amount," said a police spokesman, Officer Jason Lee. "Jewelry, watches, a laptop - that's what is reported."
But Us Weekly magazine quoted an unnamed Hilton family member who said the haul was worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Another source told the magazine that thieves grabbed several designer purses and Paris Hilton's keepsakes from her relationship with Carter. No one could say what was on the computer.
The cash value of the goods may not be much to the incredibly rich hotel heiresses. But photos and videotapes of the star of Fox TV's "The Simple Life" and Carter could mean more to her, and perhaps be even more valuable in the tabloid market.
Paris Hilton already had to deal with a lurid scandal when a video of her having sex with then-boyfriend Rick Salomon made the Internet rounds.
Police said the crooks broke in - they wouldn't say how - sometime between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 3:15 a.m. Thursday. "Access Hollywood" reported that the lavish home had been ransacked.
Nicky Hilton, 19, called the cops "the following morning," Lee said.
So far there are no suspects. "It's an ongoing investigation," Lee said.
But talk about bad timing: The break-in comes just a week after leggy Paris Hilton turned up in photos with bruised arms and a fat lip, which some in her camp blamed on a brawl with Carter.
Carter's representative strenuously denied the singer battered her. The couple broke up after dating for seven months but spent time together on July 26 and 27, a spokesperson said.
The spokesman suggested Paris Hilton was spreading nasty rumors about Carter because she was upset with what he told People magazine about their split. He said she may have got the bruises in an S&M photo shoot.
Paris Hilton's bruises were fodder for a week's worth of celebrity magazines and gossip columns. Her fat lip made the covers of People, Star and the National Enquirer, which circled the injury in yellow for readers with poor eyesight.
