hmm.. it wouldn't be a problem to use babelfish to translate all sorts of languages into english. Altavista is based in the US so it qualifies to 'post' on an american board.

You'd be amazed at how many Americans don't know this. On more than one occasion my wife (who is English) has been asked where she learned English, and when she says "England" the response is "I didn't know they spoke English there".

I have had people ask me that a number of times when they find out I moved to the UK. They want to know if they speak English here. That would be a fair question if I moved to Wales, I suppose.

actually I have to agree with GP. Everyone on this board, wether or not american, has had some education in writing and reading English, and since English grammar is very simple, this should be sufficient to avoid most, if not all, of the mistakes made here.
