No its not true it will be broadcasted on closed circuit TV so all the relatives of the deceased that want to follow the execution will be able to watch it.
I think more than 300 wants to.
But the execution have been delayed to June

I lived in Oklahoma at the time this happened. I am not going to express my opinion of how this nut should die, it would be too graphic. However, I believe the families that want to view it, should be able to.

I'll post how I think he should be punished.... here are a few of my best...

- They should make him swallow time-released capsules of battery acid.

or

- stake him to a hill of fire ants and drip some honey on him.

or the most morbid of all...

- lock his sorry ass in a room with all the victim's family members for an hour

Just lock him in a room, food through a hole. No human contact whatsoever. He'd die alot slower and it would be 'humanitarian' compared to the other means.

Let the punishment fit the criminal, as they say, so....

I say they should get a dildo the size of an elephant's dick......

think it'll fit?

There was nothing humanitarian about what he did and how he affected so many lives forever, but Gem is right. I think that the way they execute guys like this freak is too quick and clean. I'd let the surviving family members of the victims have a crack at him though, humanitarian or not.
Now I will go back to what I was doing....not much

I'm with Gem on this one. People always think the death penalty is tough on crime, I think being in prison for life and knowing you'll never get out is alot crueler.

I mean you can say "eye for an eye" until you're blue in the face but when we're talking about someone who kills muliple children, killing them isn't really justice. If they could kill him 20 or 30 times, that would be justice.

Hey, I know an ant-hill that will work for free. I'll gladly tell them that it's "all they can eat"

It can cost two to ten times as much to put someone to death just in the appeals costs than it does to house them for life. They already have rules against the criminal profiting from any books, movies or the like. And could prevent the criminal from even having input to those outlets.

So stuffing them in a cell for 50 years with very little human contact is not only cheaper, its considered more humane in the eyes of the World. You might get some instant gratification to watch their body seize up in their death throes but.... Can't do that 168 times can you?

Let them live with the bars' shadow across their face for as long as they can stay alive. Having hours upon hours to think the 'what ifs' is a heckuva lot better way to make them pay their dues than that few seconds of panic before the drugs put them out and THEN the actual death inflicting poisons are injected. Heck, they only panic for a few seconds and then don't even know they are dying.

It doesn't seem that the death penalty really works like it used to as any sort of deterrent anyhow... if you listen to all of these politicos talking the numbers on crime. So why have to pay the millions involved with appeal after appeal when it runs something like 20k a year to lock em away. Let them read, let them get educated. That just makes the incarceration that much more worse on them. Knowing they have all this education but will never be able to use it for ANYthing.

Well, the trouble with the death penalty comes from the seemingly unrelated DNA rape cases. We've learned that in at least one state, half of them were overturned when DNA proved the defendant innocent. It's very easy to conclude that perhaps half the folks on death row who are pleading they didn't do the crime are probably correct.

It's sad, because a justice system needs to have the confidence of the public. Between the DNA evidence that the system simply doesn't work and revelations that there is cheating going on at every level of the justice system, it's very difficult to take the process seriously anymore.

Of course, McVeigh has confessed to the crime and clearly WANTS to be a martyr, so his case won't have a lot of us shedding tears, but clearly something is profoundly wrong with the American system of justice.

I suggest we look at the French nonadversarial system. Where both sides work for the judge, experts are chosen by and are beholden only to the judge, not one side or the other. In other words, it's a rational inquiry, not a slugfest between two opponents who are little bound by ethics, since their goal is to win, no matter what.

To me, the French way sounds pretty reasonable, and the old saw that "our system is the worst justice system in the world except for all the others" sounds a bit hollow.

Exactly! There are way too many on death rows that ARE innocent so that should be enough right there to just house them for life (let alone the millions saved in appeals costs).

We had on close by... they made that movie 'The Thin Blue Line' about. They were going to fry him and he WAS innocent of killing that (oops Texas cop)Depending on what you read it supposedly is 15 to as much as 30% of death row people are totally inncocent of that crime. Might be guilty of some other but not serious enough to kill them.

The UK has nice touch too. NO press until AFTER except to report the crime with no names. Like ths Robert Blake thing. They are winding up to prove him guilty in the press so what could we expect the outcome to be? Especially after the OJ trial. People are human and all of that will come in to play if they ever try him.

I guess my question is why LET McVeigh martyr himself? Martyrs generally have copycats while old men in solitary rarely do. lol 18k (or so they say) a yr houses him. And one appeal can go 1 mil a WEEK. Just the costs to set up to put someone to death costs a small fortune. (watched that political show Sunday morn where they were throwing figures out) It was amazing on the costs they incur.

So lets lock him in a cage, toss in food once a day and forget him. Martyrism should be reserved for the people in the RIGHT. The Joans Of Arc etc.

I had no idea you used to live here! That's pretty cool!

As for me? I think that they should let US deal with him. Those of us who lost someone.

And yes, Palleib is correct. There will be no webcast, but he would want that because he wants to be a marder.

Glad to hear you finally escaped...

I will probably always be here, but I'd like to move to Texas. They have such strange laws about what I can put on my pages here...
