How much is enough for a paysite ??

I have another question about getting a paysite going. I've been digging around and I found a nice looking provider for paysite content that they update weekly.

They give out a few weekly galleries and a setup with 10 cams in a house with some babes, which I already sampled and it seemed like a nice setup, no upsells or anything and I chatted with some of the visitors in there and a few of them said that they've been in there for a couple of months, so that's a great sign, he he.

Anyways, would something like that be enough to draw people in and keep them or would I have to go out and get other stuff like video clips and stories ???? I was thinking about a $24.95 price tag. The content with feed would cost me $500 per month for up to 200 members, so that's a fair price.

I know that the more that's there to offer, makes the site seem that much better, but is it really needed ?? or could I get buy with a pile of pics and a 10 cam house of babes, he he.

Hiya Slick,

Unless you have a niche site, a few pics and a few babes is not enough to retain members. Either you get some EXCLUSIVE stuff, or you fill your content area with 100,000's pics and update daily.

A paysite should offer something that your average tgp can't.

Wildman.

PS. Come back to your own board!!!
PPS. I would love to chat about this topic sometime. I recently went through the same thought process with my premium AVS sites.

I think you need more, and/or maybe lower your price a bit. The idea amount of content to me, is enough that when they are done looking they forget to go cancel. So, the higher the price, the more content you need to "help" them forget

Do you guys collect feedback in your sites. If not you should start right now because feedback can help you control what type of content to update which girl etc. This will greatly effect your retention rate. Another good idea for those using exclusive content is to operate a small message board on the members side, this will cause interactivity between members provide feedback and help keep their interest.

Yes, rip forms are the only way to collect the info, E-mail is a big No unless you use a member newsletter too.

Good suggestion on the member bbs too I'll have to look into that, I am just worried about monitoring it for illegal links

Rip thats easy.

It only needs to be a simple linear message system with filtering for links and anything else you don't want. Some free guest book scripts will do the job really well or you can tune one to suit the need.

While it may sound self-serving (since I do exclusive content for a number of webmasters, including at least one involved in this discussion), exclusive content (content that hasn't been sold to dozens of other sites and can only be found on your site) is the way to go. Yes, it costs more, but not necessarily as much more as you might think. My exclusive stills cost only about 225% what my nonexclusive stills cost. I also do video at fair prices. Remember, once you're done with it, you can sell it to someone else, so in the long run, it may actually be cheaper than the nonexclusive stuff!

The provider that I'm digging into has Suze Randall content, so it's definately not exclusive, BUT that's some high quality stuff there.

I guess that there's still many other places to dig around, I'm not gonna jump on the first place that I find, but it's looking good. The company is Extreme Plugins - http://www.xtremeplugins.com you can get a free instant demo of their stuff, it looks like a great setup, they update it weekly. I suppose that a daily update might be better, but it does have that Voyeur Village place which is pretty neat, I spent 30 minutes on there in the demo, it was fun.

Wizzo has a good point, if there wasn't as much content on there, I could drop the price down to $20 per month, which would make it seem cheaper to the customer.

Member BBS? Bad idea - very bad idea. All you need is one miserable jerk-off in there and you might have a flood of shit you didn't expect. I remember checking out the member's section of a recurring sponsor, and finding a members BBS. After 10 minutes of reading that board, I learned it was a complete waste of time to promote that site. Seems the members were all pissing and moaning about the updates, the content that was being used for updates, and anything else. Never a good sign when guys start posting how much some other sites kicks that sites ass. Because even if only 10 members actually post, it might be read by 500 or more. And then you have a real problem. I say stick to a feedback form.

Well all I can say to that is bullshit. The only time you will get bad posts is if you don't give a good service. Susan and myself have been operating internal message boards for over a year and they do nothing but good for the sites. We monitor them every day and if we see anything that's not true we just remove or reply to the message. I have received about two bad messages and on both occasions the other members have shot them down in flames. Sites that keep members for long periods don't get bad press. Also, sites that have one girl features with regular updates need a feedback point. Members love to post dirty mesages and tell the girl exactly what they would like to do to them. Fantasy is our top marketing tool over here and we go to extreme lengths to ensure every member jerks off to thought of fucking the asses off our girls night after night. Susan is constantly posting provocative messages, 5 minutes of here time can mean $100 in the bank, that sounds like good business practice to me.

Here's an example of a pay site with external message board.

Dopy,

Sure, if you have time to babysit your BBS 24hrs a day. Hell - go read Zillas Love and Hate mail (I know its not a paysite but it still applies), whether you agree with him or not - he is still known for being a stickler for Quality - and the Hate mail much outways the Love.
I think its a dumb idea to run one, unless you can pre-aprove what gets listed, hell even the best sites fuck up every once in awhile and Pissed off poeple will make every point to flame you about it.

P.S = I dont own a paysite, but I agree with some others that a free4all BBS could be a nightmare.

I respect your views and understand that some may find a message post not to their advantage but you must remember that these are on the members side and not on the sensitive non member pre-view areas. In our case the benefits far outweigh any short term damage caused by the occasional malicious post. Also, the vast majority of members are satisfied with the sites content and therefore treat bad comments with the contempt they deserve. As for baby sitting the board, well I look at the posts on average about 5 times each day and spend around 20 minutes replying and adding my personal comments. When I wrote the script for these boards I included Tankers idea of previewing the posts before release but have not found the need to implement this feature. Again, I appreciate that message boards are not good for all sites but for some smaller sites that use the same girls for long periods they are a good feature. Providing a method of feedback is essential for all sites.

I think everyone here will appreciate just how important repeat subscriptions are to pay sites of all sizes. It?s a nice feeling to start each month with cash that?s come from the existing member base and knowing that your efforts to keep your members happy have paid off. I would much rather spend a little extra time nursing my message board than having to go out looking for replacement members.
