In 20-30 years, will current TV shows and movies be viewed as complete and utter shit

I just was looking at an old Batman movie on TV and it was complete shit.

The actors sucked, the special effects blowed loads, it was pure shit.

Do you think today's movies and TV shows will be considered crap in 20-30 years?

I hope that in a matter of months people start publically hating reality shows and laugh at them, pointing fingers and driving crappy studios bankrupt. I *hate* them with all my heart.

Is it as bad in America at the moment with the "home renovation" and "garden" type shows. These are really getting beyond a joke in Australia. You cant turn on the television on free to air channels at any one time at night and not find one of these shit fucking shows wasting air time.

Yeah, I caught a few minutes of RoboCop the other day and had a good laugh. I remember loving that movie when I was a kid.

After years of looking I finally found my childhood favourite a few weeks ago which was AUTOMAN. Funny that something I loved so much as a kid 20 years ago now completely sucks by todays standards.

I saw bride of Frankenstein some days ago.
The movie is like 70 years old. It was fascinating to watch.
Movies that follow trends might die but there are movies that will always stay hot.
Same as with Shakespear.

Depends upon the show. The question far to open ended. Some will and some won't it's as simple as that. Much the same as TV from the last 20-30 years. There's still a lot of good stuff around and a lot that's now almost unwatchable.

For the most part, mainstream entertainment is for the dim-witted masses. It was complete garbage 30 years ago, it is complete garbarge today, and it will be complete garbarge 30 years from now. There are rare works of genius here and there, but they are generally beyond the grasp of the average Joe and typically fade into obscurity, rendering them useless and even undesirable for commercial purposes.

Hmmm, one problem I see with reality shows is that they have a finite life... they'll date a lot more quickly than more 'classic' shows like sitcoms. Do you really think we'll be seeing repeats of Joe Millionaire series #1 in 2024?

The problem with a lot of movies is that they focus on ticket sales and using fx for fx sake. The movies with staying power are the ones that have a vision before they are shot and stay true to it during filming. Usually they do poorly at the box office. One example is Fight Club, it didnt fare too well in theaters but I'm sure since then DVD sales have quite made up for it. Also would be very interesting to see how a re-release would fare.

Other movies that work well are based around characters and acting, so much so that the cool and interesting sets in the movies only work because they enchance the feeling of the character. These movies dont rely on showing off the latest technology or anything of the sort. Two examples of this would be Snatch and Lock Stock.

I can't stand reality TV either. I think that it is the worst thing to happen to TV in my lifetime!

People generally have a fascination with the past. In it is very difficult to guess what society will be like in 30 years and how they will perceive anything, even our current TV programs.
