I like Eric Bana, but I dont think he will be a good Bond..........he doesnt have the class that Brosnan and the others had

true_blue_glenn 08-02-2004 05:01 AM

i would never have imagined..

Gunni 08-02-2004 05:04 AM

StarkReality 08-02-2004 05:08 AM

There never was a real James Bond after Sean Connery and Roger Moore...and this boy certainly won't be a good one :2 cents:

Living For Today 08-02-2004 05:09 AM

He wont be as good as Pierce Brosnan but hopefully as an Aussie he will do the best movie series ever proud :-)

That's cos you haven't seen the King Arthur shit - Clive is pathetic there. As long as he doesn't speak (in the BMW films), he's OK. Once he starts "emoting", I have a sudden urge to run away from the theater.

they had s lot of humor to make up for the "lack of" action the new bonds nowadays have. The stories in the new ones is as crappy as it can get..

they need to get back to the old formula

Stamen 08-02-2004 05:21 AM

I would not have picked him for Bond

Last one was Irish, actually. :winkwink:

TweetyBird 08-02-2004 07:35 AM

Bana as Bond.... this might work :glugglug

As long as he throws in a Poida reference somewhere, I'll be happy

Hey this is good news, he's hot. He can do it. He's about the only guy in the world that is still sexy with a beard.

I never liked Pierce Brosnan. Too much of a pretty boy.

Granted he is a pretty boy, he is quite a charmer.
I fell in love with him in The Thomas Crown Affair.

Swoon.

Hugh Grant would have sucked as James Bond.

CDSmith 08-02-2004 08:41 AM

He can't be any worse than Timothy Dalton.

Can he?

Colin Farell is too short. He is 5.5 ft and a bond has to be at least 6.0. So no hollywood type actors will pass. The average hollywood stud is under 5.10. It is geeky to know this, I know:Graucho

Also Sean Connery was born in Scotland and Timothy Dalton was born in Wales. :)

I like Eric Bana as a choice. A few years ago the rumor was Robbie Williams was in competition for the role, and even this year Orlando Bloom was up for it, so it could have been worse. I think Christian Bale would make a great James Bond though, so Eric isn't my first choice. I think he'll do well though.

Go back in Bond history, when Roger Moore was bond, the producers made the mistake of keeping Moore too long. Check the last one or two Bond movies with Roger Moore and you will understand why people lost interest.

Then they chose Timothy Dalton. Really bad move. But let's skip Dalton. He hasn't been heard from since and doesn't count anyways.

Brosnan was wanted instead of Dalton actually but still was under contract for Remington Steele in those days. When his contract there was up, MGM/UA signed him up right away.

Brosnan's contract for filming Bond movies stated that he would be making only 4 movies.

GoldenEye
Tomorrow Never Dies
The World Is Not Enough
Die Another Day

His contract is up and the producers feel it's time to change Bond as to avoid a repeat of the Moore fiasco

My Name Is James Bond Mate

loverboy 08-02-2004 11:05 AM

i was hoping for H. Jackman for the vacancy, which he fits perfectly as the main role of an agent. just me :2 cents:

stevecore 08-02-2004 11:11 AM

Eric Bana = Timothy Dalton

He's too tough/rough and manly to play James Bond, He doesn't have enough "class", like Sean Connery!
Connery = Best Bond Ever, IMO!:thumbsup

Mike Okitch 08-02-2004 11:13 AM

It could have been worse. There once has been rumours that Cuba Gooding Jr would have the job.

"Q, you're my motherfucker!"

BRISK 08-02-2004 11:14 AM

It could be worse, I've read rumors that they're considering Britney Spears to be the next Bond girl.

Please God no!

jmk 08-02-2004 11:22 AM

Hey why not ... an interesting change for sure.
Let's give this guy a chance ... he is a good actor.

LOL, obviously you haven't seen "The Boy from OZ"

mardigras 08-02-2004 12:56 PM

"An insider told the paper: "They want to modernise Bond and turn him into a youthful, suave and modern hero to compete with the likes of Spider-Man and Keanu in The Matrix."'

I guess Britanny or Christina will be doing the theme song :glugglug

LOL that is such a stereotype. I have hardly ever heard any Australian say mate as much as Americans or Canadians impersonating Australians LOL.

I don't think the stereotype that Paul Hogan helped create did much for us, although it was a comedy and was meant to be seen as that. Usually Australians that have a propensity for saying mate are generally from Rural areas, or are less educated.

:2 cents:

It's called acting and owning the role. He didn't look like that in Troy, Black Hawk Down, The Hulk, The Nugget, or The Castle either! :Graucho

Doctor Dre 08-02-2004 01:14 PM

Peirce was just too perfect for the roles ... I don't think I will love james bons anymore
