Haha everytime I go down the beach and visit my grandparents, my grandfather has a nice jar of moonshine from North Carolina or Virginia, I forget.

There is alot of factors you want to take into consideration. One is if you have a fever and another is if your stomach is upset. If you have either then no dont.

When I was sick...here's what I'd drink...albeit not in a social situation.

2 cloves of garlic
1 lemon's worth of juice
1/2 teaspoon of olive oil
1/2 teaspoon of hotsauce (tabasco, etc.)
1 shot of whiskey
1 cough drop melted in water

blend and drink the concoction then climb into bed with extra covers and sweat your ass off...the following evening you will feel good enough to drink with your friends...
