im developing a script..

i've been hired by a certain gfy'er to develop a tgp script that blacklists affiliate codes- domain blacklisting doesn't do shit these days and cheaters just hop on another freehost, i was just wondering if anybody else is interested in a script like this?

So they just go and get another alliliate code then too right? Once a cheater, always a cheater and they will find a way..... or did I miss something here?
I'd LOVE nothing more than to have a way of blacklisting people without having to blacklist the whole freehost though....... because as you say, they just go off and get another... but what stops them from getting a new affiliate code?

I am not trying to be awful..... because it sounds like a great idea....... if it can be pulled off that is.

I'd like to hear more about this.

personally i don't think this would really do anything for the fact that it's easy to learn to encrypt a linking code ect... there are one to many ways to get around these situations just my 2 cents...

I've been wondering for a while now if it would be possible to blacklist cheaters based on their IP.

Any thoughts? I mean, it would be much harder for anyone to get around this, no? The only way I can think of is to change your ISP, no?

Well looks like it would be harder.. but everytime I log on to my isp, my ip is different..... not everytime, but alot of the time. So this could maybe slow it down a bit, but there again, for people like me whose ip's change with each login, it would be a bit tougher.

Am I right on this?

Even if they had a stable IP they could use proxy servers to bounce right around that Idea.

there are also proxy's can't forget about those because programs like tgsw even have the ability to go thru proxys to hide where your coming from.... it's pretty much impossible unless u got thru them by hand and know the persons style personally i think the best way is to write some sort of program that keeps the html from every posts and checks them every couple minutes to see if it's the same html and if it was changed to drop them off the list...

What do you guys mean by it can't be done?

- Oh you mean the anonymiser-freenet-zero-knowledge trick? I see, how do they continu to use them once you block these machines?

- About the isp dynamic ip's, remove a few subnets (111.222.333.xxx) and they are gone.

With this you just fixed 99.997% of the little cheaters and scammers.

You can kill them out gradually by removing their options one after the other.

Now you can always make the "Mitnick" argument but that brings nothing to the discussion

Isn't the fact that sponsors sort of frown on multiple accounts being forgotten? If they step around the account somehow, report the account number and ask them to match it for a previous affiliate and get em canned from the program.

I have to think that sponsors would take SOME interest in the fact that cheaters are using them as well.

And dialups... you have to order and pay extra (in most cases) to have a static IP. Which is you log the same number each time much like cable has (until they crash and then you usualy end up with a diff one) DSL 24/7 is about the only surefire static IP service out there.

So going on aff accts would work, buyt having the backup capability like Wizdom said to use the masked IP 122.342.345.xxx would finish killing them off to a large degree. But that would also kill that whole IP Host so it should be used as last resort.

Banning proxies would whack all the AOL H*ll users too. And scanning html would screw anyone who goes in and changes their code to make a repair for like netscape, or changes banners to a different one etc.

Soul -> Did you read what I wrote or you missed it?

It's not even cat and mouse, you add lists like theses and you forget about it ( http://www.multiproxy.org/ ).

You can use all the templates, whatever you want, you submission it fowarded to the trashbin just for using one on the list. You think hapilly you fucked me but 3 month later you site is still not listed and you wonder why ... Get real, like we are going to flash you a "go get another one, I already added this one to the list"

Why would anyone one need a proxy to submit galleries? Somebody gotta explain this one to me. Your not making a political speech when you submit to a TGP. Don't pull me that right to anonymity and free speech (You can have it to bad mouth a TGP, thats fine with me, but for using the service people are offering on private networks, you don't have/need that right. So what does that leave us with.. Oh yeah, in case you want to cheat, otherwise why would it be in your interest to hide who you are from the tgp you want to make money with?

[I don't point at you here soul, you wanted to use yourself in an exemple as a cheater, so this is not aimed at you, but at your exemple)

hello wisdom,

i didn't miss your post. You can't ban all proxies, there are so many proxies that are not listed on regular lists and they frequently update. Of course you'll ban many of the cheaters this way and it's great, but if someone really wants, he can find proxies to use that you won't have on your list. We can limit cheaters, but we can't avoid them all.
I think that most of the tgp owners in the future will work with some fellow webmasters and that's it. Personally, I don't think is fair,I'll try to avoid it in the tgp i'll launch in few days (the nickname of my reviewer is fair2000gr hehe). For example, I had my 1st gallery posted on the Hun accepted, the same with Sublime, Thumbzilla,Richard Realm, Easypic and so on. I'm new in this industry and if they wanted these guys will never list me, but they are fair with me and I appreciate it.

Greetings

i had some years to visit his page. The counter changed, now it counts for his supervised release. I have read that when they caught him, they didn't allow him to touch anything! Magic Fingers lol
I'll take a look at 2600.com also. I hope i don't see any other hacker style online shop with t-shirts,jackets,caps,cups.........

I don't think anyone is going to go through so much trouble just to cheat a TGP out of some traffic.

First off -- if you write a script that looks for ad ID's -- you DON'T TELL THEM... Why give away your secrets? For all they know you are looking for their counter code, the width of their thumbnails, colors, or maybe they figured you just didn't like the site and didn't add it for that reason. My toplist script has never been successfully cheated because nobody but me knows how it really works ;)

But why try to block the cheaters, when you can BLOCK THE CHEATING...?! Write a script that counts the free pics and ads (I saw this somewhere -- I forget now) -- even better do a checksum of each site when you rewview it and add it -- go through your checksum's datbase every day to see if the pages have changed -- if they change then you delete them automatically.

Make the cheaters work for you... I'd rather have a cheater respect me and play by my rules...

But anyway I like the idea of working w/ a few select webmasters -- 5 or 6 really skilled webmasters can make hundreds and hundreds of quality galleries... and you have that added trust factor and sometimes friendship as it turned out for me... I can go on and on about the advantages of working w/ a few select webmasters for TGP's but there's no point ;)

TheFly, you would be suprised to the lenght some people are willing to go to screw 5$ out of their sponsors. Or for a few more visitors to their sites...

These people don't think like us.
