Rogaine and Hair Loss

i'm losing my hair!....i'm starting to get a bald spot on my head....it's not really bad but i can start to tell my hair is thinning...so does rogaine really work to stop hair loss? i'm scared to use it because i think it will make hair grow but speeds up your balding process faster in life.

go see yer doctor, and get on propecia..its the best thing there is.
But at the same time, it *could* give u errection problems (and some other nasty side effects). So take yer pic. Hair, or wood. But its really yer only chance at keeping yer hair, so worth a shot since u may not get any of the side effects if yer lucky.

rogaine, for the most part, doesnt do anything. But may regrow some hair (at the back of the head usually)..but dont expect miracles, cuz it wond happend.

Just remember this. No matter which of the 2 u use, u gotta keep using them, for the rest of your life, otherwise you will loose all that you have kept while using the products. Theres some other products out, but they are all for the most part bullshit. Those 2 are the only clinically proven to work.

Most people dont do shit when they star loosing their hair, and its all gone withing a few years. Best u move yer ass or ull be a chrome dome in 2-5 years. Theres no cure for putting it back, but u can slow it down or stop it with some products (unless u drop 20k on a transplant, which still wont look great).

rogaine works only for certain pattern, however it scratches like hell.
propecia will make it harder for you to get an erection.

I used the rogaine, but could not handle the itching. So I went for the short hair look, when it's too much gone I'll go Kojak

I have friends that use it. Yeh it works however once you start you can't ever stop or your hair will fall out again. It can make your scalp reddish and itchy.

Who cares. I have news for you women love men with short hair and bald men too. Just ask AaronM. He'll tell you.

I started Rogaine when it first was approved by the FDA. Yes...that was a LONG LONG time ago. The hair at my crown was seriously thinning.

I have never used it more then once a day. I put it on at bedtime...using the eyedropper to distribute it. Don't use your fingers. It doesn't help..and it increases the chance of side-effects. And yes, when you first start using it, it does itch. But that goes away.

And yes, over the years it truly went from people saying..."Oh, your hair is thinning"...to "Must be nice to have so much hair".

Then, about 5 or 6 years ago, even though my hair had pretty much grown back...I decided to add Propecia to the mix. Don't know if it helped any more, but I still have all of my hair. and alot that I didn't have when I first started so long ago.

And I have had ZERO side effects. Everyone that I have ever heard that had side-effects was also taking more then the recommended dosage or more often then prescribed.

And here's my warnings..If you decide to go on Propecia...get it from your DR, and not one of those mailorder places. Reason is, propecia can change some of your bloodwork figures which help detect prostate problems. So, if the DR. knows you are on propecia, he will do tests prior to you starting..and then will know what your benchmark results should be. This could save your life!

And, most Dr.'s will prescribe Proscar, if you ask them to. It's about the same price for 30 pills of proscar as 30 pills of Propecia...BUT..using a pill cutter you get 4 dosages from each pill...giving you the equivelent of 120 pills. Exactly the same drug..by the same mfr....just a hell of a lot cheaper.

Any other questions...just ask...

I've never heard that it speeds your hair loss rate, and I don't think that it could. Initially a bit more hair might fall out as your body gets used to it, but that will grow back. I really don't think you have anything to lose (except a little bit of money), and I would also recommend trying Propecia. I know you probably think it's weird, cause I'm a girl, but hair loss is something I know a lot about!!! Eating well, and taking a multivitamin can't hurt either.

Don't do propecia!!!
I used it for a month and my dick was like a limp piece of spaghetti, I could only get a semi-hard on. Freaked me out!
I stopped taking it and now my erections are so hard........you couldn't cut it with a Ginsu knife!!

I have friends that were thinning. Best thing for you to do is avoid paying for all the hair products.

Just cut it all off. It'll look much better and be much less work/costly for you. I think females prefer a completely bald head than a guy trying to keep what's not really there anymore.

go here
http://www.hairlosshelp.com/forums/index.cfm

read through the forums..ull see that pretty much everyone uses propecia and rogaine (monoxidil), since its the best 1-2 punch.
Actually most will get proscar prescribed, and cut it up, like somene mentioned, cuz its MUCH cheaper. Proscar is the same shit as propecia, they are both "finasteride", but proscar is a larger dose, so u just chop that shit up with a pil cutter and save a ton of cash.

But at the same time ull also see a bunch of threads about people bitching about propecia cuz of the side effects. Dont be fooled by thinking only a small % of people get the side effects. A lot more do then you would expect, but its still yer best chance.

Propecia wil maintain and regrow. Rogaine wil mostly just help for regrowth and doesnt do much for lowering "dht" (the shit that makes u loose yer hair).

There are some few cases where rogaine works wonders. There arent many. read the board, and ull see for yerself. It helps, but isnt great.

Rogaine has been on the market since the 70's, and is still one of the only products for hairloss that "works", which goes to show u how little we have moved forward in fighting hairloss. If you cant handle the propecia side effects, prepare yerself for future baldness (some people people loose hair on the front of their head even when on propecia). Propeca fucks with yer hormones..its some serious shit. Some guys who have gone limp with it still have erection problems months later. This is a small %, but be aware, its some potent stuff. All depends how badly u wanna keep yer hair.

i should mention, if yer already very close to bald, dont bother with any products. But if u stil have a lot of hair and want to mantain it, u should seriously look into it. At the very least, u can slow down yer loss by 3-10 years before it gets bad, and by then maybe a real soluiton will be available.

Hair Transplants will cost u 20k for a good one(from a reputable doctor who knows wtf hes doing), depending on how much u need (it could be much less if u only loose the front, for example)..

I went to go get a hair transplant and the doctor told me to sit down . . . then had me inhale some laughing gas and then he stapled a wig to my head.

When I tried to sue, I discovered that he wasn?t really a ?doctor? so I?m basically out all my money.

It turns out that the guy is actually a scam artist who does this all the time.

Here's the truth...

None of that shit works. If you have the genes that cause male pattern baldness... Guess what... You're going to be bald.

So stop being a pussy and shave your head.

Don't be one of those guys that thinks they can fool anyone with combovers, wigs, transplants, etc etc. Grow some balls and shave your head.

I was in denial for about 2 years.. I tried Propecia & Rogaine. Propecia didn't do shit. Rogain grew some small peach fuzz on my scalp, but irritated the hell out of my skin.

One day I caught some weird combination of reflections off the mirrors in my bathroom and I could see the top of my head, I was much balder than I thought I was!!

That night at 2am I drove to the drugstore & bought a set of hair clippers and shaved my head.

As always, it will work for some, and not for others. For me it worked. I have absolutely no visible hair loss. None...and we are not talking sparse growth. I have the same thick hair I had before any lose begain.

A better place to do research is one of the baldness newsgroups. But then again, remember that even those newsgroups will tend to be on the negative side. If it works...then people like me tned not to go to the newsgroups and post. I've already found my solution. Instead, the newsgroup will be filled with those who did not have good results with propecia or rogaine.

As far as, do these stop front receding. Hard to tell. I have no receding hairline on the front. My brother does. My father was blad, and grandparents were bald.

If it works, then you didn't need it in the first place. If you stop using it, (aside from saving money) nothing will happen!

I take propecia and it does affect the quality of your erections. Worst of all, I have a difficult time reaching orgasm. But hey, I still have fantastic hair.

It turns out that the guy is actually a scam artist who does this all the time.

My father was blad, and grandparents were bald.
you' re going 2 be bald.

from what i know Propecia does work IF you start taking it before or near the beginning of your hair falling out.

i have a friend who was always worried about it, his dad and grandfathers were bald, so when propecia came out about 5 or 6 years ago he started taking it - seems to have worked for him.

between being on a drug forever, going bald or an expensive hair transplant - i think i'd go with the bald option or a very expensive hair transplant - hair transplants don't look like shit anymore if u go for the best - you'd be surprised how many hollywood guys have them - they aren't going to one of those places u see on the late night tv commercials u can bet.
