the porn industry on it's way back?

I've been making porn websites for a few years now and the past half year i've noticed a serious setback in income. Many of my friends who do the same work have noticed a similar decline of income. Howcome? Have the amount of paid services on the internet outrun the amount of potential clients? While in the old days signup ratios for good
pay sites where around 1/100 today I feel said to report that with 3500 raw hits not a single signup is produced.
I am wondering if other webmasters have noticed such a setback in income (maybe traffic too?) and whether they agree on the
following statement: "The digital porn industry is on it's way back"

Well, numerous Mainstream articles have said it is mainly do to Saturation more than anything. I dont remember who it was published by, but I think it was the LA Times a week or so back called "Trouble in Porn Land." Most poeple interviewed said it was mainly the thousands and thousands of free porn sites.

Actually I think I have a pretty good answer to that question. Have you heard about all the stuff about .com companys(non adult) that were all going out of buisness and lots of people were getting fired and stuff..

All kinds of online buisness's were shutting down so alot of the people from those companys came to the adult industry causeing it to be more main stream and corperate.

So its just probably the fact that thier alot more adult webmasters now a days then from before.. I dunno though...

well if the main cause is a surplus of adult webmasters the future might just be a little brighter. After a while those new webmasters might find out the gold has already been mined and they'll leave the industry!?

There will always be horny people out there and more people log on to the internet for the first time every day. So I dont see any reason for worry about the porn world.

The only thing is that has anyone noticed how thier are all kinds of non adult companys thats used to be free and are starting to charge? I remeber not to long ago everything was free, but its all starting to gear towards paid membership things.

This might tug on the adult webmaster pocket book a little by making a person that might have normally joined a porn site on your page not because maybe he just joined some other membership type program on the web.

Just a thought.

hey daan!

nice to c u here

i think we just have to wait for the next big thing we already had: teen mail, join 4 free, p enlargements, free trials, virtua girl, and all that stuff.

the ones that start first with a new program will make the most money, if you jump in later you are in the afterburn zone, you can make some money but not lots...

we just have to wait and see, staying on top of it is the key...

It all started about 2 years ago when a couple from back east was on 20/20, they showed America that they were making a million dollars a year with their adult website. Ever since then our hosting signups have been filled with newbies thinking that they can make it in porn. Over 70% of the people that come to us for hosting only last 3 or 4 months. They don't make the kind of money that they thought they would, and boom their gone I believe we are still in this cycle with all the free porn that you see out there. The paysites are giving away the porn, people take it and host it on free hosting, and boom we have more free shit than ever floating out there. The rainbow at the end of this story is that as people don't end up making the bucks they thought they would, they will drop out of the lineup. My message to you all would be to keep your chin up, it will get worst before it get's better, but I know that it will defiantly get better

I look at it from an economic point of view. When adult webmasters started say 3 years ago and made tons of money, others saw the profits and jumped into the industry. Corporations do the same thing, when there is money to be made, they jump in and the result is the profits go down because of more competition. Economic laws say that eventually enough corporations get into a profitable industry to make the profits sink to 0, thus leaving all the remainings to the successful corporations themselves. Another point that is relevant is the life cycle of internet pornography. 3 to 4 years ago, it was in the heavy growth stage. Now it is moving down the curve to maturity. This leaves opportunities for something new, say you invent something that no one has thought of and it will lead to new internet porn back to the growth stage. Its the same thing as corporations release a product and it matures and then declines, like a black and white tv, then they release a color tv and it grows. It all logically explains itself in the workings of the markets.

Sorry kush, don't remember. They were like 2 nurses. Both of them ended up getting fired because of the show, but I don't think they cared

Why does internet porn work? Because we offer something that is a true godsend for those looking for their given goodies. We offer them not only fullfilment of their needs, but we also avoid all the embarrassment, shame and judgement they would suffer if they were to go to the local porn shop. We work because brick-and-mortar has never been the best answer for those in the market for adult entertainment.

What a visionary needs to envision is a service or product that is not normally or conveniently available at their local wally world.

Maybe a few years down the road, brick-and-mortars will find a way to generate more than imformational surfing traffic on their sites. Until then, the spoils go to the inventive.
