Whats a good annual % gain when managing your own stock portfolio?
Im up 1.5% after 2 weeks. I made $25 profit (after paying fees)and etrade made $60 in fees

should aim to beat the index(s&p 500) after fees and taxes

you dont have to trade all the time to make good gains. but try to avoid losses which can kill returns

get into mutual funds. Much higher rate of return.

I have one, that last quarter was a 17% return.

Well, hes obviously a beginner when it comes to investing in stocks, so as long as he is making more money in stocks than he could with a bank or by investing in real estate, hes on the right track. A good return is relative to the person, I am trying to make it not relative.

making 40% one year has to make up for losing 20% another.
