Speeeeeed testing
I've seen a lot of people in this biz say that sextracker hosting is the best that a webmaster can get - but I'm unsure as to whether this is true...
I have just been given hosting on the flyingcroc.net network and I'd like to test their speed against another host - Vector Force. I'd just like to hear recommendations about how I can do this - because I have no idea! I have the .net and the .com version of a domain. The .net (circle jerk) is hosted by flyingcroc.net, the .com (avs sites) will be hosted by Vector-Force.com. I heard something about "pinging" in Ms-dos to test speed... I'm not quite sure what this is. Could someone please explain to me how I would test the speed of these hosts, and compare the results? Thanks in advancs ![]() |

for online page load speed tests go to webperf.org as they give response times, individual graphic load times blah blah
go into msdos and type C:\WINDOWS>cd .. <return> C:\>tracert 123.123.12.1 >> trace.txt <return> obviously 123.123.12.1 is to be replaced by who you are pinging :-/ when it has finished, go to c:\ and locate your trace.txt to see how it performed. Easier to get quick results without the jumps in tracert by doing at the dos prompt ping www.whatever.xxx (changing that to your site that you want to test of course)
![]() We have seen some windows running on systems that need the http:// in front of it but its rare |

Speed kills, is addictive, and is illegal.
