the domain cannot be transferred until the owner removes the lock.

If you dont have all your domains registrar locked.. you should really do it. There are a lot of fuckers out there that do nothing but try and figure out how to hijack domains.

What is worse is that some registars will actually approve a domain transfer automatically if you do not deny it it via the email which gets sent.

So, lets say you get a transfer request and ignore it/never get the email...kiss that domain buh-bye

I had one of my domains stolen from me recently even in locked status at GoDaddy. It was the domain for my gay link list (gaypervs.com) and the guy just went into godaddy and snatched it somehow.

Thankfully some other people were on his trail already and we confirmed it was the same guy so if all goes well he will be someone's bitch soon.

But yes registrar lock is supposed to mean that the domain cannot be altered at all, including dns servers, transfers etc.

most registrars use it now and it's only as safe as your registrar passsword so try and change it every month or 2 and it will be harder to crack but if a good hacker really wants something they can usually get it using your whois info so you might want too have that private as well. Just a little helpfull hint.

Actualy I believe it means the domain was registered recently and cannot be transferred to another registrar for a certain period of time.
