If it does, then the Olsen twins are a lot cooler and better than all of us combined. :(

Look at all the wealthy people on here who're losers. So no, I don't think money determines whether you're a loser or a winner.

Code_Havoc 07-09-2005 02:46 PM

Being a 'winnter' or 'loser' has (at least in my mind) a lot to do with how well you feel about what you've got. If you busted your ass for the little bit you have, and are damned proud of it, then I feel you quality as a 'winner'. If you lied and cheated and got what you have, and are proud of it, then you are still a 'winner'. It's more of a self-respect thing I think.

Unless one can define the purpose of life (always assuming there is one), how can one define winners and losers?

I agree. It's an attitude.

in my opinion income means nothing. anyone can be a big enough asshole and make some money. if someone is a loser or not is dictated by just who they are. how do they treat their family. what are their values? ect. i'll call a guy who works a shit job to better his family the best he can a winner over a rich asshole who puts his mom in a home because she needs his help once in a while.

tony286 08-03-2005 08:20 PM

money doesnt make you a winner. Who you are make you a winner or a loser.

reed_4 08-03-2005 09:10 PM

Not all the time money would be the proof if i am a winner or loser.

polish_aristocrat 12-24-2006 07:47 AM

GFY postcount dictates if you're a loser or not

jpwhits 12-24-2006 07:50 AM

To be a winner you have to win at something, what are you winning by having a large amount of money?

slapass 12-24-2006 08:27 AM

Living in Brazil it is very true. Money = winner. But it is not publically admitted. The US is much more likely to look at other attributes. Descrepincies in income can be harder to spot in the US so maybe that explains the difference.

yes true:)

if you are poor, you are losing the game of life
but if you make alot of money it doesn't necessarily qualify you as a winner. If your a loser but a rich loser you are still a loser.

woj 12-24-2006 12:58 PM

That's a somewhat stupid question, of course you can be a "winner" with a low income...

You would honestly put someone who makes a lot of money in the same ballpark to someone who lets say, wins a Nobel prize, wins a gold medal at the Olympics, or perhaps finds a new cure for some disease?

And really, you don't even have to have some great accomplishment to be a "winner." Someone working an average job, supporting his family, is probably more of a winner, than a filthy rich drug dealer....

bizman2960 12-24-2006 01:01 PM

Knowing how to make $ doing something is being a businessman. A hobby is another story completely. If you are business, then making the most $ does mean you are better.

czarina 12-24-2006 01:26 PM

that is a great question, that should make us all ponder... why do we consider poor people as losers, but still admire great men from the past who didn't have a penny to their names?

The lesson is: Take what you can from everyone.

I believe the goal of most homeless people (panhandlers) is to drink and get free money from guilt ridden working people in order to not have to have responsibility and or to feed their addictions. So, if that is their goal they are certainly achieving it successfully. I remember that song "Mr. Wendell". One of the lines was 'he gives me some knowledge, I buy him some shoes.' It always bugged me since I do not believe much knowledge can be gained from someone who can't buy shoes. Unless, the knowledge would be how not to be able to buy shoes. :winkwink:

To the grand majority of people and societies around the world, sadly...yes.

To me...absolutely, positively not.

The happiest man I ever met was a heart surgeon who left his million dollar a year job after getting divorced, gave nearly all of his money to charity and took a job as a park ranger in Montana. He spends his life reading, relaxing, staying in shape, enjoying the outdoors and making $26,000 /year.

minusonebit 12-24-2006 04:26 PM

Anyone can get rich. Its not hard to whore yourself out.

Its not whether you win or lose but its how you play the game.
