ICQ help please
Please do not suggest Trillian . . . that is not going to happen . . . .that being said . . .
I made the mistake of going to sleep this A.M. and when I woke up, ICQ was down, and when I tried to restart it I got a C++ Visual Basic error. I use 2001b. I tried reinstalling, and when that failed I moved the existing copy over to one of my other drives. I then installed 2001b again. That worked, and my entire contact list was restored. This is my problem: I have lost all of my history! This is not acceptable. Like I said, I moved all my previous files to another drive, so I still have it, I just need to know where it is. Anyone here happen to know what files contain the history? I am thinking an .idx or .dat files. Anyone know for sure? |

Hmmm I'm not sure,
but maybe you should try opening some of these files in notepad... maybe you'll see your history there as text

I think the location changed with each version. Just do a google search for 'message history icq 2001b' and I guarantee you'll find the answer.

well . . . a little update . . . .
I found the idx and dat files where the history was stored, but I had to run the db converter . . which took about 6 hours . . .so, now history is restored . . . but now it won't connect to the Internet . . . guess I need to try an upgrade I hate change |

I am trying to figure out this web based version, but I am guessing it does not keep a history |
