Most Content Companies NOT willing to cooperate with 2257

Okay,

I spent the past 2 days e-mailing and icq'ing all of the companies that i have dealt with over the past few years buying sets from.

As far as getting copies of id's, model releases, etc.....

The general consensus is mixed.

out of about 15 providers, only 2 or 3 have been willing to provide me with what i need and even then, those are copies of id's with personal information blurred out.

MOST other companies have told me they are working on it or that i am safe because their custodian of records has everything i need should my business be raided.

To add to the mess, most content ive found i own contains tons of foreign models holding up their id's from the czech republic or something which is totally useless.


SO....
On that date in August when the new changes go into effect. and For some reason if i get raided... WHAT THE FUCK DO I TELL THEM?

oh sorry, all the records for these are kept by others and they wouldnt give them to me?

Seems like there is no fucking way im going to get what i need record wise by the deadline date.

Im assuming it is the same for most or all of you.

ESPECIALLY TGP GALLERY GUYS....

i see the only option is to get out of the biz and start over when this mess makes more sense.

WTF should i do here?

are we all going to be dreading picking up our soap in the prison showers or is there something or anything that can help us out here?

It is very clear. I suggest talking to a lawyer and finding out why your fears and thoughts are totally off base. Oh the quiting idea though I am all for, hopefully many take this advice.

You've got a valid point, although the word "raided" isn't really the right thing to call it...but yea, here's the deal -- the custodian of records doesn't have what the govt. wants and you're hiring a lawyer and looking at jail time, my friend. And I'm just as nervous as you are...I'm the custodian of record for my production company, and I'm crossing my "t"s and dotting the "i"s and this is with the old rule...new rules and this could be *exactly* what the govt. is trying to do...put us out of business.

All those think this is a lughing matter...it ain't. Trust me.

from what i understand the only thing in between this new shit going live and our fucked over ness (yeah thats a word you fuck tart) is an open period for the "community" to express their concerns.

after that, its as good as a go. no court hearings to determine if its legit... if the attorney general says its legit, its legit.

so what then?

you can wait around and see i guess.

The secondary producer definition is rather clear, I'm not sure how some fail to see that. And what secondary producers are required to have in their possession is also very clear as to what, just not how much of it.
