IKEA just openned up here in Minneapolis. I went to check it out. It's huge! And it makes me want to buy stuff and eat there and have kids to make them play in the kids area. IKEA is the devil.

You are right..sometimes! The thing that frustrates me sometimes is that you get those directions with NO PRINTED VERBAL guide. All you get is some crumby stick man, with screwdriver and a few arrows pointing you towards the next move.

everyone always bitches about how ikea is cheap crap...and this always comes from the people that bought the $80 dresser....i mean come on, don't spend less than $100 on a dresser and expect it to be superior quality

if you actually shop there and get a nice piece that is a little more money than their cheap shit, it is actually very good quality

and you can't beat their downstairs, with all those home accessories...i love that place

You can find some good stuff at IKEA if you look hard, but mostly it's a ripoff. They are the kings of cheapo laminate, particle board, and questionable upholstery. You're usually safe with the smaller stuff.

IKEA is nice. My brother in law is a warehouse manager for IKEA. After our house caught fire in Jan 01, he took us down there and using his employee discount, we were able to furnish our temp apartment for under $4K....can't beat that.

furniture shopping should go like this: see what you want, point at it and grunt. then a few days later it shows up and your house where big strong men carry it all inside and assemble it for you.

I likes the idea. Cheap, and decent quality. I don't see anything wrong with that. I know it's not the best, but you definitely get what you pay for.
