Prodigy Internet

Does anyone else use PRODIGY for internet service??
If so, I need to find out how to disable the "Boot off after 15 mins if not using the internet" feature.

I called PRODIGY...one guy said that I had to have WIN '00 ...and another guy said that "IT CANT BE DONE AT ALL..ITS THE SOFTWARE"...

I didnt feel like calling them back for a third time to see what other stupid answer they could give me...maybe I will later for kicks and giggles LOL

Can anyone help?

start, settings, control panel, modem, that brings up modem props, then click properties (about the middle of that box of properties) and then uncheck the disconnect after idle box.

check cnet downloads too, they have free programs that automatically ping your server to fool it into thinking you clicked on something

Hehe, My friend install DSL equipment for sympatico internet. It was really funny the other day, because he installed it for his own neighborhood. The "support" people were trying to explain him why he could not get the service to his home when he was trying to order it... Anyways, You might wanna call the psychics network. I hear they are better at providing support for microsoft products then microsoft technical support ... http://www.bmug.org/news/articles/MSvsPF.html

Gemini, I did that , but there was no check mark there! *whimper whimper*

Prodigy told me to go to Control Panel, Internet Options, Connections and in order for me to change the IDLE, the button at the bottom that says "ADVANCED" has to be clicked..i can change it there..but its not highlighted and I cant click on it...

Any suggestions?

k, go start, settings, con panel, internet options, connections, settings, advanced, and make sure BOTH diconnect... boxes are unchecked there.

Another gates method to make sure since, OBVIOUSLY, you will be using his MSN toconnect, that you don't overuse his dialups. lol

See if that helps. I forgot all about how he hid the disc if it appears the connection is no longer needed. We change all of that as soon as we build a system.

Babas...follow that sequence exactly and you shall find what ye seek! Copy and print it if you need to. It will bring up the box they were talking about.

On it is the one disconnect if idle for more than box

And the second is disconnect if it appears the connection isn't needed box.

Gates tricks eh? Hate the guy. He ripped us for thousands with that have to put Windows on systems WE built and sold. Grrrr

Try control panel, systems properties, device manager, click the modem to open it then right click it, pick properties, click connections tab, towards the bottom right is advanced again. Is it showing now? If so, click it and clear the two different disconnect boxes on the popup from there.

If that doesn't work, I'll have to crack the books tomorrow. lol

not really wanting to butt in -
have you tried going to dial-up networking and right-clicking on your connection icon?
hit properties and click on the dialing tab there should be a box for disconnect on idle - untick it and another for disconnect when not needed.

I'll give it a shot tomorrow Babas. Just didn't have time to dig into all the stacks of books to hunt the right one which will be at the bottom of the pile in the back! lol

No prob Kat! Appreciated the shot. With her one advanced being dimmed out, it would never show in so easy a place as the dialup tho. Got that from the hubby. He's worked on and built so many window boxes that I trusted his call.

HANG GATES!! Let's here the call! lmbo
