What's the fastest batch MPEG encoder?

Mine's not fast enough, need a fast one for Windows or Mac.

right now i use TMPGencoder and Magic Video batch converter but i find it really depends on your machine. a 200+meg vid card and about 1-2 gigs of ram with a 3+ghz proc will do wonders

rushing encoding is bad idea.

just like burning audio data, try to speed it up you get too many errors.

at a stable pace is always preferred.

not sure on what would be the best for you though

Both of them are good, but I'm looking for ones that are faster, and or have more features.

There's only one quality encoder and that is Cinema Craft Encoder. It's used for every major DVD production. Even with low bitrates it gives a very good quality. If you need to do the job faster, buy some more computers...

I'm not familiar with Cinema Craft so I will throw my vote in for Clearner XL.

The fatest MPEG encoder on Mac OS X is probably a friend of mine's app; Compression Master 2.3. Check it out here
http://www.popwire.com/products/master/

It runs on Mac OS X and Solaris and was practically made for batch encoding. The 30 day trial doesn't encode clips longer than 20 seconds each, but you'll get the idea of its speed etc.

Cleaner XL for windows is a great app...

for 2x the speed you can get a dual CPU machine.

Cleaner XL crashes too frequently on our computers, puts out faulty Real media files and doesn't make good enough QuickTime headers (haven't found an option to active instant playback). Maybe you've had more luck with it.

They do have a 30 day demo but you need to register with the site http://register.canopus.com/US/Suppo...ew_account.asp
Or you can download version 1.0 from http://www.tucows.com/preview/277834.html

Not sure if it?s the fastest Lensman however Procoder 2 is very good I normal encode from raw avi to vcd quality mpeg in 2x real-time. However it really depends on your pc obviously. I run my OS on a 10k SATA drive and have separate SATA drives for dv storage and dv output. Also it would depend on what you?re doing in batch for example adding watermarks or other filters as this will also vary the time when batch encoding with Procoder 2 or anything else for that matter.

Actually you can use it on more then one PC just only one PC at a time

To do this just disabled ?start kernel with windows? and plug the dongle into the machine you want to encode on.
