Why stop at making flag burning illegal?

Why not take it further, like some European countries and make "hate speech" illegal too?

Killing an eagle is not covered under freedom of speech - Why shouild burning the flag be okay?

I think if you set fire to your own car, then it's fine though isn't it? (assuming the only damages are those to your car). Thus if the flag is yours, I think you can do whatever you want with it.

I don't really see the point of burning flags. Yeah it shows you don't think much of them but to go out and buy a flag just to burn it seems pretty silly.

Anyone who would burn the US flag is an IDIOT.

Why you ask?

They go out and buy the flag for $19.95, and the US Government collects taxes on that sale. Their act of burning the flag makes the US government a few dollars richer.
