This is an example of charging by the click - one or two cents for pictures, 20 cents for 1 minute video clips. Of course, you can charge more - maybe increase the price as the set gets harder. But by keeping the low price you'll get the surfer to switch on "auto-confirm" so he just pays by clicking each thumb.

All that's involved is putting your content in a protected directory, putting the cgi bit in front of the links, and including some script for the control panel. You then upload the CGI program, register your site, and away you go. Slightly more to it than that, but not much.

Are you are setting it up along the lines of AVS where you keep a list of all participating site?
That way, all the traffic generated by webmasters has a chance of making more cash for everyone.

I don't really want to compare it with an AVS, but there are some similarities.

There is a list of all participating sites inside the user's account pages. If the surfer is on Site A and visits the list, site A will get the traffic commission for any sites he visits.

If on another occasion the sufer just goes straight to payasyouclick, logs in and selects sites from the list, then the original referring merchant gets the traffic commission.

This means that sending an existing surfer to PAYC is never a traffic leak, on the other hand there is a real benefit to being the original referring site for lots of surfers.

So you dont have to tell them how much they cost any more or he wont be sad because of a '' high '' price since it's in the domain name.

When uploading cgi files these are pre-compiled, so you have to upload as binary not text. There's a readme file in the zip to remind you.

Thanks for the kind words.

PayAsYouClick is inherrently "fraud resistant", in that its very hard to move large amounts of money with it, and unusual spending patterns are very obvious. Never-the-less we don't want to be seen as a soft target, so the initial country list is quite restricted.

I hate the idea of country-filtering for anti-fraud. We'll keep this under review and modify the country list as we need to. If you have specific countries you feel are wrongly excluded please drop us an email and we'll take advice.

First pic should charge 1 cent, second one should charge 15 cents for 10 mins... As I don't have any accounts I'm not sure what would happen next, but I think it'll allow that. May be you should encrypt those price & minute settings at the links using a custom key for each merchant to verify it...

I know average surfer might never notice or try that but leak is a leak..

No, there's no security problem there!

You're not logged in. For performance reasons it doesn't bother to check the price until you have logged in, that's why it's looking like accepting your click in your screen shot. If you get an account and follow through on the click, you'll see it will refuse you because the price is wrong.

Its simple to get an account - try it.

We don't rely on the referrer for security.

All static links are pre-registered to ensure that no content is obtained at the wrong price. Or if you use dynamic links, the price and minute settings are protected by an MD5 hash including the unique merchant password.

Your TOS is pretty harsh. I accepted it but that is because I am just testing the system. I could see some problems when you start getting into some decent funds being earned and paid out.

How about having a couple of programmers to help others with the setup process? Say like 25 or 50 per setup. Example they are numerous one girl sites out there that have been online for over fives years but they still do not know how to edit cgi files nor upload them. It would be nice for them if you had an installer on hand that could do some installs for you. Serious flaw making someone go through the setup process in order to start using the system. User friendly is ideal.

Are you against the idea of this being used for cpc programs? Meaning rewarding on a per click or per lead basis?

Yes it does support WMV, they work just fine on recent IE and Netscape.

Take a look at http://www.onecentporn.com/videos.htm . OneCentPorn is our main adult demo site.

Click on Donna (I'm rather fond of Donna). She's providing one minute clips at 20 cents each, WMV format. They seem to stream properly too.

Webdork has got a live site linked from the videos page selling full length videos at $1 each - www.1dollarvideo.com . These are 50MB, so are downloaded as zip files rather than the video format. I think it took him a couple of hours to set that up.

Although these are some of the first live sites, they show how you can give a range of prices. 1 and 2 cent pictures (pretty average quality but you get the full set), 20 cent clips of better quality than you will ever find free, and an upsell to $1 full length videos on another site.

That's how we show the surfer its worth getting an account. And once he's got an account, can you imagine him visiting ANY site and not at least clicking a few pictures and clips? Micropayments don't mean lower spend levels.

By the way, www.1dollarvideo.com has its traffic commission set to 50%. So when www.onecentporn.com sends traffic there, onecentporn will get 50 cents for every $1 video sold. 1dollarvideo will get good traffic in return, but will only pay based on results. I could send as much hitbot traffic as I wanted, if it didn't buy any videos, I wouldn't get paid for it.

The only restriction you should be aware of for videos etc is that that right-click save-as doesn't work. You should tell surfers this to avoid complaints, and explain how to save from within Media viewer - or sell them as zips.

The response from webmasters has been phenomenal. Sites of all shapes and sizes are being built up right now, but they don't appear in the list until they're ready to go live. In some cases there is a huge amount of content going up, in others we're looking at integrating our payment system with more complex sites both in adult and some very interesting mainstream applications.

This is where we're going to need some help. The response has amazed everyone, but we're determined to continue providing the best tech support you can ask for. We don't want any holdups getting your sites to market.

Although PAYC is by its nature incredibly fraud resistant, we will not be seen as a soft target. The list is an initial launch position, we'll be extending it but on advice from people that know how to manage this better than me.

Let us know what countries you feel are inappropriately excluded and we'll look into it.

Remember also that this is the list for surfers. Regardless of the list, webmasters that come recommended will not be excluded based on where they live, but they may be subject to increased due diligence. I don't like it any more than you do, but its a reality we all have to face.
