AVS feedback...help your fellow webmaster

I finally made the main graphic for my first AVS. Up 'till now I've been doing just TGP stuff.

Following the advice of Idinternet. I'll be making one of these a week.

I need your feedback. But brutally honest. Don't hold back.
Don't worry, I can take it. It's the only way to improve.

(The images are there, but the galleries aren't built yet.)

So what do you think? Does the graphic work? Does it draw you in? Is the wording ok?

I like the design, but i would not let the main image point to the sign up page directly, the surfer will probebly click free pics and then will be brought to the sign up page and scared of before he even read the text you got under the image...

also the 'free tour' text is hard to find you should but that more up on the page...

but still GREAT JOB! i wish i had the patiance to but so much time in a design...

1 more thing, in stead of using the fnp banner use a text link, i think surfers don't like to click banners that have a different name on it, it's very confusing...

the surfer knows he wants to sign up and then still has to click a banner instead of a sign up here link...

Nice Redshoe!

The only advice I would have (since I do the same kind of half to full page graphics) is to get your file size down as much as possible. Compress, compress and then compress some more LOL. And chop up the image so it will load piece by piece. The surfer won't get as bored that way as opposed to having to wait for it all to load.

It's easy in photoshop, which I think you've already mentioned you use. Use the guides and make sure it's checked on "snap to guide". Chop it up in like 100x100 squares or whatever. Choose rect tool set it at a fixed size at 100x100 or the size you've chosen. Move the square to your first section, it will snap to it, cut, open new file, paste, save. Do it with all of them and then make a table and insert. Make sure to use
tags at the end of each <td> so there are no spaces.

Pardon the post if you already know this

If anyone else has an easier or different way to go about this, post please, I would be interested too.

Ok, that went freaky..I guess I'm a retard for not knowing you couldn't put a tag in brackets or it actually does it in the post.

What I meant to say is use a br tag after each td so there are no spaces.

LOL, you're too funny April.

I haven't played with it yet, but there is a 'slice' feature in PhotoShop6 that will do exactly what you're talikng about.

Nice Redshoe,

the only other suggestion I could make, is to change the font of your text. Surfers only read what they are comfortable with, and as boring as it is, Times New Roman is the most effective Text. Perhaps shorten the paragraph (under the main image) and change color to Navy Blue also.

Otherwise, Good work.

Wildman.

Get this, I learned to do PhotoShop work only about a year ago, while cleaning up images that I shot for a children's book. LOL

Hey the same techniques apply. I've had photoshop for years, but I never really learned the program 'till about a year ago.

BTW, that book will be out this coming fall.

Very cool Redshoe..nice job!

I'm curious though about freenetpass. Are they new? Good deal for webmasters. But my concern is after 3 'free' days they get re-billed (i believe) to $49 bucks. Probably going to piss a lot of surfers off.

I'm curious how this freenetpass will work for you. If freenetpass paid on recurring as well, hell, i'd create a site and use them.

Keep us updated Red.
