go OFFLINE before closing a suspicious window. (just click the little plug icon in the lower left of the browser status bar)

If you use IE:
FILE -> Work Offline

I tried Pet's way, which is basically just holding down 'Esc' while pressing "Alt+F4". Didn't work for me.

As soon as I hit another CJ, I'll try Corpsie's way.

alt-f4, esc? Why? Why not just do ctrl-w? I can do it much faster than the windows can pop, even on cable...

excellent tip "work offline"

I always use esc, but when you have spawned into several oversized and undersized windows, the work offline trick definitely is the one to use
