I gotta say this: The whole idea of.. get born, get bored in school until you're 18, get a job(s), work until you're too old, retire, and die... Who thought up this shit? Why do people spend the best part of their lives at school or work?

Why is it that you're either too young to do anything, tied up with school or work, or too old to do anything?

If you're doing that, and don't want to be doing that...I think it just means you're not doing something right.

Do something different tomorrow to better yourself. Get a plan together. Build an empire. Have fun. Go fishing. Go sailing. Listen to some good music. Throw a party. There's so much more to life..

Well, I like a little variety in my life. (rather than the School,Work,Retire,Die thing .)

My FAVORITE saying in life is , and I quote from the movie "Three Kings"...

"You do the thing(s) you are scared shitless of and get then you get the courage."

So, I have been traveling, going to Amusment Parks, getting things peirced, telling my mom FINALLY to fuck off when she goes physcho on me, and shit like that.

LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT!! Have a job, save up alot of money, quit, get a BETTER job, quit, go to college, get a CAREER, and do online porn in the mean time and do some cool shit along the way!!

You are correct, the defaults do appear to suck. And everyday, I continue to wonder why that is so. And I'll try not to write too much, because I could write a book on this and bore everyone to death.

There are alternatives...and they only take a very small investment at first to get your life on a real path. All you have to do is make sure that your life is a little bit better at the end of each day. If you go to bed, and your day wasn't better than the previous one...DO NOT DO THE EXACT SAME THING THE NEXT DAY! It sounds simple, but for some reason, people continue to do the same thing day in and day out and bitch about it. Of course it goes a lot deeper than that, but that's the biggest step anyone can make.

If you can take that step, the world will just appear to open before you over time.

The american dream - school, college, work, money, retirement, nice house, two cars, and freedom to work for yourself at the end - some cut the way to it short and achieve it faster, but the standard way is the way you mentioned in the first post.

But... everyone is trying to achive the kinda lifestyle that would suit them in particular, and a lot of people go for the "security" sense as in having a good steady income and a home with wife and kids to come back to. It's the way the society evolved nowadays, but you don't have to follow the path - do whatever "you" want...
