The Flat Earth Society is a nonpartisan, non-profit and nondenomination l membership organisation dedicated to improving the understanding of the nature f reality through pataphysical inquiry, empirical investigation and the exchange f idea
While the Society is not a "crackpot" group, it is opposed to the fashionabl , politically correct Spherical Earth theory, which is expounded every day by so-call d "scientists", the media and political leaders. The Society asserts that the Earth is fl t and has five sides, that all places in the Universe named Springfield are merely lin s in higher-dimensional space to one place, and that all assertions are true in so e sense, false in some sense, meaningless in some sense, true and false in so e sense, true and meaningless in some sense, false and meaningless in some sens , and true false and meaningless in some sense

Toxed, you are one argumentative fucker, I'll give you that.
Answer -- sorry, yes.
Reason --- because it's no skin off my ass what someone else believes. I believe what I believe, and I know what I know. The belief systems of others dammages mine in no way whatsoever.
In this thread the underlying issue is about people needing to feel superior over others. They run their cock holes at others and diminish them in order to build themselves up.
Well, anyone who believes that the bible is the literal word of God *must* believe that the earth is flat. The bible refers to the "four corners of the earth" as actual physical places several times, so the earth must be flat for that to be possible. So to argue that it is spherical is to say that the word of God is false.
Further, I'd bet that most people lack the ability to literally *prove* that the earth is spherical. Sure, you can show people pictures of the earth from space and all, but then again, there are pictures of Ewoks and the Death Star that look just as realistic, so photographs prove nothing about something being real.

Pathetic.
LOL YOu really pretend to know what the fuck is going on dont you.
No skin off your ass? So when those "flat earth" people get in the government and make decisions that affect society based on their idiotic belief, that ends up affecting you and your litter.
If you are Muslim or Christian then you are compelled to believe that the Earth is flat.
As someone who acknowledges that humanity cannot progress without accepting the truth, I say that one shouldn't respect the belief that the Earth is flat.

It's called a metaphor. If you can't even figure that out, any further words from me are a waste of time on you.

It's not a matter of "figuring out" metaphores to people who believe in the bible as being the literal word of God. If God said it, then it's true to these folks. The bible is filled with statements about the 4 corners of the earth, the ends of the earth, heaven being above the earth, etc. These statements *cannot* be true if the earth is spherical.
I'm sure you can go as far as to say that anything in the bible is a metaphore, including creation, God, the Garden of Eden, the 10 commandments, etc. But the folks who believe the bible to be the literal word of God do not believe that they are metaphores; they believe them to be facts straight from the mouth of God. And that was my point.

You're wrong, John Paul 2 made a "bulae" (I don't know how the fuck it's call in English, so that's the latin term) admitting that Galileo was right. It took 500 years for the Roman Church, but who's in a hurry?
This post is endorsed by CIA, KGB, MI6, the Mafia, Illuminati, Kim Jong Il, Worldwide Ninjas Association, Klingon Empire and lolcats. Don't mess around with it, just accept it and embrace the truth
I don't give a flying fuck what anyone believes, I believe what I want and I'm right. I gave up a long time ago trying to convince people they are wrong... they are too dumb to see it.
Atleast they aren't harming anything. People who believe in witches and other rediculous shit killed people. The worst these guys could do is fall of the end of the world them selves.

The Bible is in laymens terms. If everything were explained in detail it would be a book you could never read in your lifetime and one that earthly creatures could never understand.
Such as.....
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
--------------
We all know that the sun and moon aren't merely "lights". However, try explaining not only what the sun and moon are but how they were created to people that have never seen more than a few hundred miles of earth in their lifetime. Now apply that to every detail that would have to be in the Bible and we're talking hundreds of years of reading. That's to say if a human could even understand details such as how the Earth was created, how the Sun works, that the Universe is unbelievably large, that the earth is round and spinning and that's what holds us to the ground, etc.....
Get over it, it is a metaphor. The Bible is filled with them. If it weren't people would die reading it without ever seeing the end.
"I try to make a habit of bouncing my eyes up to the face of a beautiful woman, and often repeat “not mine” in my head or even verbally. She’s not mine. God has her set aside. She’s not mine. She’s His little girl, and she needs me to fight for her by keeping my eyes where they should be."

No, because the earth is not flat. It is an undeniable fact. Go up high enough, and you'll see the curvature of the earth yourself.
The big bang theory is not fact. God is not fact. A whole bunch of scientific and religious shit about where everything began and how it has changed since is not fact. Any belief requires some kind of faith, even science.
I wish people would just get the fuck off of eachother's nuts about things like this. Let people believe whatever it is they believe, and stop being such a condescending fucktard.
