How do you make money on search per click engines? Do you actually sell spots on top listings or what? How do you find those who want to pay for top spot if someone types ?Christian tapes? or ?basket weaving lessons??

Ahhh.

I would check out the major ad networks and see if you can sell them the targeted ad spots so they can resell them.

Also check out the various mainstream commission programs. They have a wealth of non-adult affiliate progs and you could send targeted traffic to a bunch of 'em.
