They post illegally now, you think an amendment to the current law will stop them?

Websites that post images obtained from usenet do have a problem.

1) The images are not licensed to them, so that's copyright infringement, which is a civil issue, and the copyright owner could take legal action

2) Displaying images without 2257 falls under Federal jurisdiction, and a conviction means 5 years in jail (ie. felony).

Item #2 should really make websites that display usenet images be very concerned because if a copyright owner has been frustrated at the fact that their images are being stolen, and don't have the money to sue for infringement, they can let the Federal government take aim.

The Federal government also enforced "slave ownership laws", "Seperate-but-equal Jim Crow laws", Marijuana laws, and anti-Sodomy laws, anti-Homosexual laws, etc.

ayup.

Acacia is something that you deal with financially (whether you fight them or settle with them).

2257 violation, you deal with it in a federal prison with a felony conviction...

apples and oranges

I thought about that too, Thumb TGPs will have serious problems to keep docs about every preview thumb.

Easy solution is go softcore thumbs only.

While that sounds great, it won't work since most large TGPs are located outside the U.S.

For website owners outside of the US, how do we stand?
For example, we are based in the UK, most models and performers are also from the UK but our servers and billing company run from the US - does that mean we fall in this new law??
If we don't but have affiliates from the US, do they need all the ID paperwork in order to comply with this new law?
