"Police are searching for an Elburn man charged with molesting a pit bull-boxer mix. A warrant was issued for Daniel J. Joyner, 27, of 40W019 Hughes Road in Elburn Thursday after a 2 1/2-week investigation into complaints from the dog's owner, a Geneva woman, that Joyner injured the animal in June after having sex with it in Geneva. Joyner faces felony charges of engaging in sexual conduct with an animal and criminal damage to property. He could face up to nine years in prison and $75,000 but is also eligible for probation. Apparently pit bulls and boxers are crossbred with the idea that the boxer ameliorates the pit bull's aggressive tendencies. Still, it must take some nerve to molest one. How do you know, as you do whatever nasty thing you do to it, that the pit bull side of the dog's personality won't take over and maul you? After all, a pit bull is not the type of dog you want to tangle with ? unless maybe you've got some hybrid fetish of bestiality and masochism. The stereotypical masochist wants to be tied up and beaten with whips, but maybe there are also masochists who fantasize about attaining sexual satisfaction by being bitten by dogs.
The obvious danger of such a fetish, though, is that with a dog it's not easy to have a "safe word," an agreed-upon signal that indicates you've slipped over the line between masochistic pleasure and real pain. Maybe the dog could be taught a safe word ? if you say "heel," for example, it means he should stop biting you. But how many dog bites would you have to endure before you could be sure he really understood?
