why do humans enjoy music?

Sounds like a stupid question but think about it.

What is it in in our brain that recognizes rhythm ? And why?

All cultures and civilizations have rhythm
just like they all have a god and all have a desire for sex.

So whats the use of music for a human being?

I think it's because spoken language lacks in it's ability to communicate our complicated thoughts, emotions and ideas.

Just like all Art. Just an extension of the language really.

That applies to what people have made of music these days.
But im talking beats of a drum. Just that. We hear it and we follow it. No art there.

the oldest language still in use is sanskrit and originally it was a sung language.
people never spoke - they just sung everything they wanted to communicate
(of course people using sanskrit these days speak it, not sing)

so music plays a big role in communication of ideas and thoughts

I stand by my long considered opinion..

Drum beat is music, and music is art, and art is a method to communicate a thought, emotion, or idea.
