I am taking vacation for the month of Aug., so good luck guys. I will be in Europe... :glugglug

PS. I will come back when it is all over and buy a house (that still stands)

KRL 07-15-2004 08:46 PM

This is what the world map we're all used to seeing looked like 450 Million years ago.

You can clearly see how things have changed.

Eventually the Pacific Plate which Los Angeles is on will move so far North that LA will be where San Francisco is.

The big one is indeed coming and coming big.

FlyingIguana 07-15-2004 08:50 PM

better buy some duct tape

Rochard 07-15-2004 09:26 PM

I doubt duct tape would help!

I lived through the 6.9/7.0 quake in San Fran back in 1989. I was in Pleasanton at the time.... The parking lot was an ocean with waves two feet tall - I am not kidding you.

If a 6.0 or higher was to hit LA..... Ouch.

I'm drivving into San Diego on the 6th..... Think I'll be okay?

reynold 07-15-2004 09:28 PM

Even if you can predict an earthquake, how much protection would that really afford?

I second that! I have never experienced a tornado or a hurricane, and the thought of either one of thode makes me want to crap my pants.

I get scared with a minor thunderstorm and one hail ball!

Firehorse 07-15-2004 10:44 PM

That sucks, I hope they are wrong and if they are right I hope it is less powerful than they are predicting!

Vitasoy 07-15-2004 10:53 PM

This isn't news, their have been several articles stating theirs going to be a big one hitting the west coast... 2 months? How can you predict such a thing with in such a small time frame... I guess anything can happen.

TurboTrucker 07-15-2004 11:00 PM

Well, if you drove to Phoenix, then the earthquake hits LA... I guess being forwarned would be quite useful, no?

MikeHawk 07-16-2004 02:07 AM

1993 Jan 17th...was fucked....that was the last one I remember as being a mother fucker, my Insomnia Cafe Coffee house was wrecked...on Ventura Blvd Sherman Oaks, right in the middle of the hit zone, did not like that.

Got some great pics of the national guard patroling the streets, then, will scan and load them up... M16's and hummers cruisin Ventura Blvd, it was creepy...no power and buildings on fire...

I'd rather be hit by a Hurricane. You can see them coming over a week ahead of time. But I grew up in Coastal NC, so I guess it's how you're raised.

Anyone else find it suspicious that this scientist finds this new earthquake prediction technique right in time to detect the biggest EQ ever to hit LA? I'm not saying it's not possible, just a little too convienant.
