Webmasters using Macs...

The past few weeks I've been playing with a PowerMac G4 at work because I'm expected to become our "Mac expert" and I've totally fallen in love with them! I get to install OS X 10.3 tomorrow and am really excited (I know that must sound pretty lame). If only I had an extra $1700 laying around, I'd scrap Windows today and gladly join the minority.

So my question: How many webmasters out there use a Mac for their day-to-day operations?

Single or dual processor? Either way, the new G5s are really sweet! They'll really be nice to run when "Tiger" comes out.

i used both (windows and mac) for years at the same time - none of them is any better. both have advantages and disadvantages. macs just look cooler.

The Unix-based underpinnings on Mac OS X is also a big plus.

One thing is true. The VAST MAJORITY of people who have tried BOTH a mac and a PC prefer the Mac. It's simply the better computer.

I've used PCs exclusively since I was old enough to know anything about them and can firmly say I'd scrap them in a second for Mac.

I started on a PC, for fun, not work involved. Then went to college for graphic design and switched to mac. Got a job at a design firm and used Mac only, but when i got into the "adult industry" i have to use both. Testing browser compatibilty mostly. But both Windows and Mac systems have advantages and disadvantages. I'm not sure how to make a wmv file on the mac, if its even possible. Lots of cool lil programs are not available for OS X, like standard mpeg slitter/joiner. But i still prefer OS X, but have use a windows machine as well.

G5 dual 1.8ghz
PowerBook 15" 1ghz
2.2 ghz Athlon PC are the systems i use

The big problem for apple is that Bill Gates is a marketing genius. The apple product is clearly superior in almost every way. Windows is just a poor copy of the mac OS. But that's good for us mac users. Lower market share means that hackers and spammers won't waste their time writing mac viruses., which is fine with me

Anyone remeber that dialogue in the movie 'the pirates of silicon valley'?

Steve Jobs: We're better than you are.
Bill Gates: That doesn't matter.

Yeah I wish there were more Windows-type programs and games for Mac, but what can you do. Not enough people use them for there to be a big demand for such programs. You can always use a Windows emulator though ;)

Wait until you see Windows Longhorn. It's scary how "Mac-ish" it is (the appearance anyways).

I know its weird to think of, but compare the resale value of a mac compared to a windows based machine. The mac always holds its value.

So they're going to start naming their OS after animals too, eh? Jesus Christ! Can't Microsoft come up with an original funcking idea?

I have 2 macs and 2 Pcs. I use my PC for most of my daily routine, but design more print stuff on my mac.

I have a g4 dual 1.25ghz, and an g4 ibook for surfing on the couch. Wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of their new dislpays.

Why? The animal names were Apple's idea. Plus they picked all cool ones: Jaguar, Panther, Tiger. All MS can come up with is Longhorn!

This is pretty cool too (though not relevant):
Closing Bell: MSFT, 28.13 AAPL, 29.58

I 've been watching apple atock for a while now. When the G4 cube came out, the stock was like at 15$ a share. Within the last 2 weeks, it was as high as 33$ iTunes is making them alot of money.
