Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Oh my goodness, this movie was awesome.

Action (minimal violence), love story,
and just the right amount of romance.

Hoorah!

I agree, and i hope you arent being sarcastic. I have seen previous posts saying that it was a waste of time to see. Apparently alot of ppl hated it. But I for one thought it was excellent...but what do I know...I also thought Life Is Beautiful ruled.

Haven't gotten to see it yet but it looked good.

Love Jackie Chan, for all the look of violence but silliness and no one is really hurt!

Crouching Tiger, Hidden piece of crap!

Did any of you actually see that movie? Ok, maybe I'm being a bit harsh. Ok, I'm being WAY too harsh. My (asian) wife and I saw that movie, and even though we are huge fans of all the actors in it, we just coudln't get past the flying thing.

Maybe if it were a fantasy movie, we could accept it. But it was based on a technique. I just feel they over did the wire work. And the acting? Sometimes it was as if they were just reciting lines, not as much emotion as we have seen from these actors before.

And why in the middle of the movie did they switch pace to a completely different story. (Which I was much happier with!) No flying, just smart romance. Nice drama in the middle.

Maybe, I'm just tired of so much action, that the story gets lost.

Wow! I never thought I would hear myself (or any guy for that matter), complain of too much action.

...my 2 cents...

I'm with the majority on this one. Great Movie. Most movies try to drop elements into a story to appeal to a variety of tastes.... Crouching Tiger tells the saga of good vs evil, lost love, and mortals conflict with supernatural. classic story lines seen in a new light. Instead of sprinkling love story mush for women or violence for men or karate for the jackie chan fans... I came away feeling that it all had a purpose. I never felt that they were just filling time or pandering.

It'll definately get added to the library. I don't own any other "karate flicks" but I will buy this one. It's definately in the top 50 of all time.

still think this is a wonderful movie.
i bellieve the "flying" aspect of it comes from an ancient legand or belief if you will in the orient. it was/is believed that if one can earn total control over mind, body and spirit that person can become light as a feather...one with his or her environment. i could be wrong but that is how it was explained to me.

Alot of people say they disliked the film because of all the flying and tree hoping. What they fail to realize is that the movie is based a bit on legends and folklore. It is not based on a real life happening. Perhaps that is one of the things that makes the movie so amazing is that people do beleive that it is based on a true story.

Is Matrix or Superman based on a real story? Hell no, but I never met anyone who complained about all the flying in those movies.

I think alot of the "flying" and wire work was kind of a homage to the old "kung-fu theatre" flicks.

Lots of people seem to think that people doing impossible jumps was invented in The Matrix. Illiterates in my book.

that movie sucked. I think owen hart had better wire effects.

and that story absolutely sucked. and the acting sucked. and the love story sucked. and chow mein fat sucked bad. only good part was the fight scene in the bar but i saw that in the preview.

SweetJimmy, my wife is part of the academy, we had Quills on video when it was still in the theatre. I thought it was great. It's the story of Marquis de Sade.

(For those of you who don't know) The movie has sex, rape, sex, creepy priests(Jaoquin Phoenix), nudity...did I mention sex?
Sade's name has been immortalized in the word 'sadism'

It really is a good movie. I recommend it.

Quote from the movie:
"Conversation, like certain portions of the anatomy, always run more smoothly when lubricated."

I thought the "flying" was just another added sense of gracefulness.

The movie flowed really well.
