I agree... Iv played ice Hockey, football, baseball, basketball my whole life...

I consider my self a decent athlete, and I must say that Golf is the hardest game/sport I have ever played. It took the longest to master... and someday it feels like iv gotten worse after practicing.

People who hate golf are those who haven't played it before, or haven't the mind, skill or attention span to play it.

Golf requires skills so it is classified as a sport, however, to compare it with a sport that requires skill and athletic ability like tennis is wrong.

You can bring a picnic lunch to the tournament golf course, watch the best in
the world and not spend a small fortune on food and drink. Try that at one of
the taxpayer funded baseball or football stadiums.

there were 18 holes before this. Why do full-length golf courses have 18 holes,

I think its fair to say that golf is a sport. And I absolutely agree that its a sport where you cant make many excuses and blame anyone but your self for playing badly.

I dont know.. when i play snooker or golf... if i dont put in alot of effort/concentration, i dont play well.

I play golf and I consider it a sport.
There's no chance in hell I'm walking for 3 bloody hours and sweating just to "relax".

I play all sports, even ones that you sweat while playing. But i find those who sweat alot when playing any sport are 'usually' doing the wrong thing... or out of position, or are just looking for attention, tryng to get everyone to notice them.

four rounds of golf, (a tournament is four rounds) is the equivilent of walking appx. 18 miles. 1760 yards in a mile, avg course=7200 yards.

I'm sorry you were beat up man. But had played sports like hockey and football since I was old enough to do so.

I was even on my way to going pro with hockey. I played MTHL (which is the equivalent of professional hockey for kids in Canada), all the way until I met a chick and decided to not risk things (not a good chance of going pro) and get a real job.

I always thought golf was shit when i saw it on TV too. My dad used to watch it and i would fight with him to change the channel.

I went out on day, when i was 20, to play golf and thought i would be a natural. Hell, iv been to the driving range a few times. I could hit that damn ball, and swing that damn club fast and hard.

but hey.. i shot 155 (that's real bad) on a executive par 66 course. I was fucking pissed ! And the more angry and aggressive I got, the worse i did.

All the people i went with, who are lawyers and a 'pencil neck geeks', shot 80 - 90's.

You can imagine how embarrassed i felt. Me, a thick muscle bound guy (compared to these fucks at least) getting my ass whipped.

That's life...

Another reason why people dont play golf when they are young is because golf is fucking expensive to play. I play once a week, at $150 per round.

Now that i am good.. my strength helps me. i hit it long and shoot 82-88 depending on the course.
